Got a Smith torch kit several months ago, and I can't hardly cut stuff 3/16" or greater with out the metal just welding back together. Got 10 # on acetylene and about 30# on oxygen. Flame seems to be adjusted correctly, but metal just welds back together instead of blowing out. Just using the one tip that came in the kit, probably a #00 tip .

What am I probably doing wrong???

Thanks for some advice.

Move the torch faster. It's likely you're going too slow.

You need to set the flame up and then set the oxygen blast up. Heat the metal red hot then give it the blast and once it's melting move right along. The oxygen will support the cut almost by itself once the metal is good and hot. It's like fanning a fire, or blowing on kindling for you boy scouts.

Maybe this will help, you want a neutral flame:

it sounds to me like your moving the torch to slow...and usualy what i had for torch settings was 4 act and 16 for oxy, it should be all you need for that thickness...iv cut up to 1 inch with that mix. just play around with your cutting speeds...you should find what works fairly quick

The flame should not change shape much at all when you apply the straight oxygen.

wrong kind of torch and it's using a different fuel.

10pounds is a bit much for the fuel side.
back it down to 5-8psi. post a few pics of your cuts for and ''we'' can help you fine tune it in better.
