Has anyone cut out their rear crossmember to install an aftermarket bumper and then down the road wished they hadn't?

If I buy the 4X4 Labs I will need to remove it and I'm just wondering if it will affect resale, should I ever decide to sell it. Maybe I sell it and get another and decide to keep the 4X4 Labs, can I just put the factory bumper back on, or is the frame compromised and needs the strength of the aftermarket bumper?

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject!

It would be nothing to reweld a cut cross member back in place. Once done and factory bumper installed very few if anyone would be able to tell.

Thanks for the reply! I did not know that was an option!

Avoid if possible, but I agree with LandcruiserPhil, I had this experience with my 60. PO cut off the rear crossmember which reduced the price I paid. I bought a used rear crossmember from Jason, an excellent vendor here by the way. A new one was/is NLA. I haven't installed it yet I'm pondering/looking for oem rivets.

Nothing magical about the OEM cross-members. It could indeed be rewelded in or custom-replaced easily (although the latter if done right may not be that cheap if done by a pro). Of course, you'd need to disclose that on resale.
