Custom rear bumper & Tyre carrier (1 Viewer)

After I had the bodylift done the rear bar looked stupid and that as well as the tow hitch was getting in the way offroad. I decided to make a new bar complete with a swing away tyre carrier.

So after heaps of research (mostly on here) I decided on a design and started making it.

I cut out the rear cross member.

And flipped the tow bar to the top of the chassis rails.

Fabbed and tacked up the new rear bar.

Made the rear tyre carrier.

And bolted it on! Sounds easy!

Since I added an after market tailgate strut.

And bought a drop hitch to clear the tailgate.

It took me ages to build and I had to redo a couple of things as I mucked up on first attempts. But I'm happy with the result.

i like it! cool use of steel and reciever hitch. it looks like one of the lightest weight tire carrying bumpers ive seen. your springs will thank you.

I can dig it, what type of spindle did you use for the tire carrier?

here's a goofy idea.. take some of that tube and build a slider cage for the exhaust

It's a 40mm trailer axle with a flangeless hub using bearings. It swings real smooth.

I've been meaning to get that exhaust modified and moved out of the way altogether.
