Pics... BTW To anyone who decides to upgrade there headlights with these they will perform better than OEM. :D They probably will not perform as well as OEM with HIRS but they will perform better than OEM and IMO they look way more bad ass than HIRS do! :flipoff2: PEACE!

Very nice!
Thanks Sage:beer:

Hey - thanks for removing the 'damage multiplier'! The black triangles are indeed gone and I'm surprised (pleasantly) by that. Now you might as well keep unbolting to get the "real" damage multiplier off - heh. By that, I mean the entire grill guard is what we have dubbed a damage multiplier due to its tendancy to make a gentle bumper tap into a hood/fender replacement when they bend backward into the sheetmetal.

Anyhow, thanks for the hard work you put into clearing that issue up.

 , now we just have to :shotts: the newbie outta me!!:D

Doug, you have taught me a lot about my lamps for better or worse but it was still beneficial to know. I know I could've got the heck outta Dodge when the heat was turned up but I felt that it would've left many here in the dark. What I have revealed will either make some feel it's worth a shot to give it a go as the lighting is sufficient enough to live with or shun them altogether and go another route but either way, many questions were answered. I would definitely say the safest way would be the HIR way but if your like me and want a new look, then give these or the Euro's a try. You can always put them back up on ebay anyhow!lol They're inexpensive and do take the precautionary measures of caulking them to seal them well like Mot advised. I know I haven't experienced any moisture problems yet but where I live, we don't have the extreme elements that some of you guys face. I also bought the nice looking clear/red tail lights and I do see the moisture buildup in them when I wash the rig. I'll be caulking them as well. For those who want to know more about whether these can be retrofitted with better projectors, I will be pulling them apart as I want to replace the exsisting LED's to amber colored ones so they can work with the turn signals. From there, I will see if the projectors are removeable for upgrades.
Also, it was mentioned how these projectors are aligned high and may need adjusting. As Cody mentioned, these were most likely designed by and for the racer scene. I'm not sure but if these same lights were installed in normal vehicles, they would be sitting about 24" from the ground but being on our taller rigs, they sit over 36" high, so that could make them appear they are misaligned but either way, I prefer the light beam higher anyhow as the vision is enhanced. The bad part is, I could be blinding oncoming traffic. I have yet to be flashed but I want to make sure I'm courteous to oncoming traffic, so I had my wife drive the rig on a stretch of road where I can drive opposite of her and I didn't see a blinding problem but I did see the cool xenon colors it put out! I'm not sure if all these lamps are built the same, but if your's does blind oncoming traffic, then I would suggest realigning them.

Sage, I was convinced the chrome lamps were nicer but now I have to rethink that!;)

What appeals to me the most of the black ones is it does let the rig keep that bruiser/tougher look whereas the chrome gives it that newer look you see on most vehicles today. Also, the black ones seem to hide the LED's better for those who don't want anything to do with them. But black does keep in line with what is about to be revealed in the next generation LC. I guess you can't go wrong with either one but as Cody mentioned, darker rigs would most likely look better with the black ones.

On a bright note, Allstate gave me exactly what I needed to get me another rig, and yes, I bought lights for it as well! Chrome goes well with white too!:grinpimp:

I just installed the new lights this past weekend and haven't had a chance to drive at night with them other than around the block and noticed how badly aligned these came in but they have an easy adjusting screws to take care of that. I did connect the 3 lil' led's on the lamps to the turn signals and added amber bulbs to them and they look cool blinking. From what I noticed, these lights didn't have the hot spot as bad like my others but actually more projector-like. I'll double-check tonight.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! You should have bought it back for salvage. You could have made even more if you parted it out. Or sold it as a project.

So sorry dude!:crybaby:

Now you are going to take that bull bar off the new one right?

Now if you get a real bumper the next fender bender will not be a total loss.

Good LX/80's are going to be hard to get in a few decades.

It looks like the damage multiplier you have on your new rig is quite similar to the damage multiplier you had on the rig you wrecked.

I thought about that but my insurance co. wanted over 3k for it. I was hoping more like 1k. Don't know if I could salvage enough to make up the difference.

The new rig came with the grille guard too. Not sure if I'll be keeping it or not.

If you'd have had an ARB or something, it would have made the damage much less. you'd probably still have your truck right now. what happened anyway?

I am going for those lights!
Who did you get your last set from?

Thanks

yeah, i'm thinking of going w/ the black, to further the blacked out-ness of my rig.

you can find 'em on ebay if you search for projector and land cruiser (at least you could last time I tried)

I got mine from here,

I didn't want to wait for auction to end so I did the buy-it-now deal. If you get these lights, I would caulk them like Mot mentioned and adjust them before finally installing them cause it's a PITA trying to reach for the adjustable screws when fully installed.

I might put my grille guard up for sale in ebay and buy me the ARB bumper in the near future.
The accident occurred when I had my wife pick me up from having surgery cause the hospital didn't allow me to drive and being a concerned spouse, she was focusing on me moreso the road and BAM, she hit a car at a 2-way stop sign. The Chrysler Sebring was fully damaged and me, still being drowsy from going under didn't think much about what had happened till later that day. Wife was wondering why airbags didn't deploy and my guess is because it was hit from an angle and not head-on? Anyhow, the new rig is in very good shape and I hope the HG has already been replaced.

what kind of rack do you have on there?

Nope, the old one was absolutely demolished from the wreck. The new rig, other than a ton of miles is almost flawless. Almost in new condition. :)
