Due to what I consider poor design, the Drag Link on the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80 is often the first thing that the rocks hit when you are off-road wheeling. Bent and broken drag links are commonplace offroad damage. Worse is when you bend or dent up your axle housing, but by then you have usually mashed your drag link anyway.
Since changing over to the aftermarket drag link, I have not had any further problem bending the Drag Link or any other suspension damage. When your drag link is bent, your steering either doesn't work or is close to useless. Trailside, you can take it off if you have a ball joint separator, and lots of patience, run it over to straighten it out ,or you can pipe wrench it to roughly work but it is a PITA.
This custom aftermarket Drag Link is 1/4 Inch thick D.O.M. 1 1/4" Outside Diameter with jam nuts. $75 firm without tie rod ends. Easily Adjustable
I cannot remember the manufacturer, and their name is not on the product. It is made in the USA.
Factory Toyota Drag Link is 1/8" Rolled Steel, 7/8" Diameter with slip fittings. $60 firm without tie rod ends Can be adjusted.
Both Drag Links can be run with steering stabilizer and no modifications needed to upgrade to the custom aftermarket.
I am going over to a different steer system so I no longer need these parts.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tie rod ends are separate -
One long end has less than 1000 miles on it, and it is Factory Toyota $65
One long end is aftermarket and in good condition $45.
Short ends are $25 each.
SHIPPING INFO: PLEASE GET YOUR OWN SHIPPING QUOTES:
Shipping Information: The Custom Drag Link weighs 14lbs. The Stock Drag Link weighs 9lbs.
Shipping weight for the custom drag link is 16lbs, 11 oz, in a 48" x 4" X 4" box.
Shipping weight for the stock drag link is 12 lbs, 2 oz in a 48 x 4 x 4 box.
Shipping is from 91780
I recommend staying with the stock, factory tie rod which is behind the front axle so you have a fuse rather than stress your steering gear box on a hard hit. I have changed over to high steer so I am selling both the stock and the aftermarket Drag Links.
