Scrowley,
My compliments on your work and this thread. I work for a manufacturing company and understand how much time goes into design, especially if you do it well. I am also a weekend hack carpenter, and appreciate quality woodwork. Your drawers look great. You are also to be complimented on your patience. Potential customers are always quick to ask for design variations, self-assembly options, instructional videos, etc, with no concern for the additional time (i.e. cost) that goes into such requests. Your explanations over the course of this thread have been very helpful.
One question that I do not see answered so far; can you provide basic dimensions (length and width) of the drawers, including the sides and end drawers? I am interested in secure storage for some longer items and need to confirm they will fit. Many thanks,

I also would like to see what you would do to secure and hide/conceal some longarr.. 'items'. points for ease of access to said items and security in case the cruiser is broken into. would it be possible to make a secret compartment for these 'items' ?

I will post up all measurements shortly.

Drawer interiors : 29 1/4" long X 19" wide X 7 3/4" deep
Front storage behind rear seats : 42" long X 8" wide X 8" deep
Flip up sides: 40 1/2" long X 8" wide. Not square. Wheel wells are on interior

That front storage compartment would make a good spot for a rifle and other things. How difficult would it be to put one of those hidden magnetic locks on that door to make it look less like a box but give the ability to secure it?

I am toying with the idea of building a large steel box where the spare tire used to sit. The box would only be accessible by lifting the floor. It would be very hidden and secure. I really don't like having drawers in the back... so, it solves that want too! If and when I start, I'll post pics

It is a lot of space. I have a full rear driveshaft, tons of tools, spare parts etc.
A few different style locks could work. Most ppl. Don't even notice the front storage. The top is so seamless with the carpet.

I have time to build 1 or 2 units. Is anyone interested? Lmk.

Bump. After researching all the storage systems available I think my units are priced VERY fair.
If anyone is hesitant because use of the simple fact that the drawers don't have drawer slides they can be added for $200. 250lb load ball bearing slides.
The interior of drawer would be 2" narrower. IMO they aren't needed but I know some might not like the simplicity of my current drawer slide design.

Have you done any with the Brown Carpet ? I have a 97 LX450 with the OAK Interior and was wondering how close your Brown is to the LX450 Factory Carpet Color ??

It has been done here before. I don't remember who or when though.

I have not done brown. The fabric colors are on page 3

That tan with black is really nice. Great work. Something I'm definitely interested in. Have you done anything with a sub yet? How long a turn around on these currently?

Thanks. I have a 12" sub that stays on top of unit normally.
3 week turn around to build.

how easy is the carpet to clean? Does it fad at all over time and sun exposure?

Hello. Carpet is very high quality. Fade resistant. Very easy to clean. Vacuums up like new every time.
