Get a trans temp gage the A440F doesn't like the heat!

I've never had a problem with the temps on my tranny, and it's run non-stop in 95-105' temps and doesn't miss a beat. Plus it's great for pulling! I drag my Boston Whaler up and down the coast all summer.

Is that beer in the crankshaft and piss in the gas tank or other way around?

Duh! Beer is fuel, piss is lubricant!

Tomorrow I'm going on a 200 mile road trip to visit family. There is currently 6" of fresh snow on the ground and the plows seem to be on vacation. I have some other really bad ass rigs I could take, all 400+ HP. Guess what I'm taking? The old '91 is a bad mamma jamma when it's nasty out...

My advice is to get your engine running correctly first. Clearly something is wrong based on your fuel economy. If it's still a turd, then regear to 4.88!

This is what the mighty 3FE can do with proper tuning and gears. This motor is bone stock, all Toyota OEM parts, 4.88 gears and 33" tires. The speedo has been corrected as well. Yes, it's a rolling start, but you get the idea. I have no problem merging on the freeway at 70mph, but I do use every inch of the on ramp!

Sucking gas and dragging ass!

I had the 1995 and now I have my 1992 and there's something just a little more raw. Its the perfect balance between modern and the past!

Some do some don't, mine did... I see guys on here all the time saying to watch trans temps and since heat kills transmissions it is good to watch... I'm sure it's not everyone's worry but on that old if a rig abnd a replacement /rebuilt one running 1k-3500 it's worth monitoring in my opinion...

Well guys thanks for all your help. Ened up being air flow metter was malfunctioning, sourced one from cruiser yard and replaced it. Also did a birfeild knuckel job and the thing is running tits!
Took it on a 90 mile drive, mostly freeway and highway speeds and then checked mpg after.
14.4 mpg up from 6, the tourque and power is back!

I have to agree with you, I would rather spend <$100 to be able to monitor my tranny temps, than to "guess" and end up spending many$$$'s repairing the tranny! Good point.... I added it to my 2017 "hit list"!
