I am the original owner of a 91 80. I purchased it brand new in 1991, and it has has been my only source of transportation. Earlier today, however, I purchased a new 100 series. The vehicle I purchased (Galactic Grey) includes most options, with the exception of AHC. I am writing to share my purchasing experience with those of you that may be in the market for a new LC. The MSRP of the vehicle I purchased was just over 63K. The invoice price was $55,753. On my first visit to the dealership, they offered to sell me the vehicle for $56K. I told them I was not interested in purchasisng it for that price. The next day they called me, and over the next few days, I had several conversations with the salesperson. Ultimately, they agreed to sell the vehicle for $53,500, over $2000 under invoice. Overall, I believe I got a fairly good deal. However, based on the dealerships desire to sell the vehicle, I believe I could have done better if I had held out longer. The dealer had 5 LCs on the lot. Incidentally, the dealer also tried to sell me an 84 month extended warranty for $899. They originally wanted $1499 for this warranty but dropped the price when I declined the offer. Do any of you have any opinions about purchasing the extended warranty for this price? I have a day or two to decide. I hope this purchasing information helps some of you that are in the market.

Sounds cheap for an extra 4 years, check max number of miles and is it a Toyota extended warranty or an aftermarket one. Make sure it covers everything! (read the fineprint in the actual terms and conditions of the warranty for " items not covered or exclusions" or similar wording.)

Make sure the warranty is underwritten by Toyota and is platinum. There are different grades, and the more you pay, the more things are covered. BTW, if you buy at the end of the month, dealers are often more willing to move the vehicle, especially on the last weekend (which is now).

Good info and congrats on the new ride. Sounds like $10,000 off MSRP is now a common deal on new LC's at dealers with several in stock.

If the warranty covers the starter & manifold, I'd consider it, even though it's probably a wash as far as money goes... but you'd get it rolled up into your loan and not be out of pocket if those things do go wrong. Sounds like you got a great deal, congrats!

I bought mine a year ago, I think sticker was over 64 (have AHC) and I believe I paid around 56K.

Didn't have much wheel-n-deal room: they don't ever carry new LC's at my dealership, happened to have one at another 100miles away, and I had just finished my 3 Day ownership of an LR3, so was a bit needy of a new vehicle.

To be honest, I wasn't really thrilled with it in the beginning (didn't have some of the bells and whistles or styling of the LR3), but within a few days I had come to my senses. Now I love the darn thing.

11K miles on it, hasn't seen the dealership once for a problem.

As Jim mentioned, make sure the warranty is by Toyota Financial Services and is the Platinum level, and the deductible is $0 dollars (only costs about $50 more for that up front). You can go to the Toyota.com web site and check out the financial services link for more info. The price they offered is reasonable if it meets the above.

Many dealers sell a 3rd party Gold or Platinum - it is a pain. You can get the one from Toyota Financial at any time during your warranty period. Some dealerships will sell it to you online at a discount (Can't recall who off hand).

FWIW- Mine came with a money back guarantee if it's never used. Although, I paid twice what you paid.

On the warranty that is!!

Thanks for the warranty information. Based on a number of the comments, I declined the extended warranty. I am, however, really enjoying the 100 series. I am looking forward to getting it on the beach and into the woods in the next few months. Just like the 80, I expect to be driving it on a daily basis for the next 15 years at least.
