Have they done a swap with an 80 series before?

Have they done a swap with an 80 series before?
The group has placed Cummins in just about everything. They are a design and production facility. They have the capability of fabbing and machining on site. The service and communication have been superb.(not an easy thing to find) they are excited to add this type of conversion to their stable. I'll let you know how this plays out. I'll post pics shortly.

If you cant break your truck with toyota power well.... get a cummins;)

I thought I would share.

I found a competent and capable group that can do the cummins swap into a 80 series. The price has been reasonable and the group has been stellar in providing communication and input on the process.
I shopped about every company across the country. This was not an easy find.

Ill keep you posted.

Let me know how it works out. I've considered going that route myself. They in the Denver area?
They are in kalispell Mt. If you watch diesel brothers, you have seen their work.

Thanks for the shout out! We are a full service Manufacturing and Diesel Conversion Company up in beautiful North Western Montana. We specialize in Ford Cummins Conversions, but have done a number of different applications, and are currently in the process of installing a 1st Gen 6BT Cummins into Cummins80's Landcruiser.

The Toyota 2H in my FJ40 just killed itself. What would the cost be to put a 6BT in my '40?

My sanity is already long gone.

Thanks!

Looks like they are using the Diesel Adapters kit.
You are correct. What I love about this group in Kalispell . Attention to detail, long history of diesel conversions. Very thorough layout and planning...and above all, they answer the phone ! Customer service is second to none. Every question concerning addressed immediately!

This is a cool build. Is there a specific reason in choosing the Gen 1 5.9 vs a Gen 3 5.9 motor: is it physical size, cost, or something else?

Great question. I was looking for a few things on this project.
Simplicity, reliability, ease of maintenance, and limited electronics. This engine was the right peg from several conversations and research. It is a complete rebuild from top to bottom. Not the cheapest option. Other options are available.

My question to you. What am I missing? What's the benefits to the later years 5.9?
HP on this unit will be 200 and torque will be right near 400. From all accounts this should make for a spirited ride with relatively good fuel economy. Your thoughts?

Sounds like your strategy for electronic & mech simplicity makes sense. I'm not questioning your choice just wondering if it was an option from your builder. 6bt ( also 4bt) are solid power plants, very reliable and good on fuel.

There were considerable refinements from gen1 to gen 3, mainly increased Hp & torque, improved injection system, Econ, and seemingly smoother and quieter running. But maybe the 3rd gen would require up fitting driveline components to manage the additional torque & hp it puts out, or require more electronics to detune the engine.

Anyhow- looking forward to seeing how your Cummins upfit turns out.
