I think its called Mattrax. Mucho expensive, and about a 2 to 1 gear reduction IIRC. It would be cool to try in super deep snow. JOhn

I think it would be fun to try too but I wouldn't want o spend the $$$, also I saw this in Kearny, no snow around there!

I have read that it really works well in sand or snow. Other than the top speed being so limited by the inherent gear reduction, they biggest complaint I remember was that it rode really rough. The system is much heavier that regular tires, so the unsuspended weight is about doubled. I can see using it in soft sand like a beach, but in the desert around Kearny, most of the terrain is way too had. I suppose if you stayed in the sand washes it would be a blast.

Murf,

Cool pic and you look chilled.. Looks like a lovely spot. Is that off the 143 or the 3 bar rd?

Hi Jim, it is off the 288 North off Roosevelt on literal edge edge of the highlands before they drop to the valley floor. The scenery was awe inspiring...

on the way home we bid farewell to Stepmur who headed the Globe way home to southern AZ in his 40. We chose A-Cross road west acoss the north side of the lake ( first time on it and liked that fast dirt road) before taking the beeline home.

As far as cold, the cloud cover helped keep it suprisingly warm at 46 degrees early am at 5000 feet which was good for this thin blooded guy :D. Still cool enough to have a little fire.

Great pictures! Your Canon does well ~

Is it just me but is this a picture of a 40 with flash and moon coming up in the back ground? I did find the two ant trail pictures interesting.

It is just you:censor:

I mixed up the description for #3

This is no flash, and only the light of the moon behind the camera shining on the 40 on a timed exposure.

The light behind the 40 is the moon shining on clouds.

Damn I was afraid of that, had my eyes checked with in the last six months too.:frown: Not sure if it's my mind or my eyes, hard to say when you get old. If I do figure it out I probably won't remember anyway.:bang:

 too funny

Nice car Murf. When we bought my son his first car we looked at a few classics including a early seventies Nova. While inspecting the truck seen where the weather stripping had failed and the floor of truck was rusted out. That type of rust repair is beyond me and would of had to been farmed out. Probably for the best anyway. Ended up with a early nineties Mustang which he trashed in short order. The early nineties is not what I would call a classic.

Found this white stuff on the Bartlett Lake road last night.

They had some serious rain fall in the late afternoon with several places on the road with 2'+ of dirt and rock. Some rocks as large as baskeballs along with small trees:eek:

No cell service in the area but I was able to talk to another CSC member via Mt Ord repeater on my HAM:cool:
:D
