Sheriff's Dept Dispatch said that if I wanted to get to Crystal I would have to go in the back way over Penock Pass, probably only way out too. Don't know what to do to try to get ahold of them and let them know.

Evacuations off 44h. Hwy 14 closed from teds place to stove prairie. They would have pennock pass then down to 14 then red feather. Or there's private road network that leads towards storm mountain area I think.

Looks like they can still get out, if not down to Masonville they would have to go west to Pingree Park road, north to Highway 14, then west to Rustic, North to Redfeather, then doen to Fort Collins. I hope they are ok and moving out of the area.

I also saw a map with the fire area, it appears that they are still south of the burn area, with easy access from Moody Hill to go down to Masonville. It's late enough I would think they would be heading back soon anyway. I hope they are OK. Eric C.

Just heard from kbahus that all are down from Crystal Mountain and safe. :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

as mentioned, we all made it down safe and even got some good wheeling in. amazing (although not in a good way) to see the fire from above like that. we contemplated a night run up crystal to see the glow. this morning, smoke was not visible from camp and the winds were calm, we figured the fire laid down, but found out we were wrong when we got to the top of moody. we quickly bailed out after a couple phone calls and seeing the fire a ridge away

That is scary.
It was windy as hell down here last night.
I swam Lake Lindenmeier this AM and the lake had black soot on it, and a ring around it from the fire.

Glad you got out safely!

Looks like Moody Hill has been spared thus far. The fire got the stop sign at 44h as far as reports go. Barely crossed the road about 1/2 mile west also, but trails are the least of the worries. Hundreds of homes have been burned.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those that have suffered from this tragedy.

We heard that Stringtown may have been a way out of Crystal mountain also, which I think is accessed through the private road beyond the Crystal Mountain trail where you head back in towards the playground. We also had the GPS devices given to us by the FS.

Finally seeing some of the foothills today in the north end of town. Black, but there are some trees left.
