We should get a planning thread going for those who made it in or are on the waiting list.

Next up we'll pick trails, it'd be fun to see who could roll down convoy style.

I'm in for a convoy. I would like to do a pre-run as well. Probably the swells.

i seconds this motions

I am currently calculating GVWR and tongue weight to see if I can tow my fully loaded Taco behind my Ford Transit campervan. It's going to be close, but doable. Just have to limit it to "FJ40 top speed" on the up hills.

Glad to hear there's a crew headed down this year. I got in also! I'll be leaving the middle of the month to get in some MTBing time as well. Would be great to connect with other 406ers before and during the event. My avatar is from TOTW @ CM '19, great memory of an amazing week!

Anybody else have a like 3 shopping carts online of stuff they want but the cruiser really doesn't need for this trip or is that just me? 🤣

Still have 2 prep lists going, one for the 80 one for the 40. As of last night's negotiations the 40 is still on the table lol

Yup. Bought a front facing camera, lights, I need to order spare cv and tie rods from Toyota Parts. Still waiting on my White Knuckle Off Road rock sliders, and a few other goodies. And looks like now I need an FRS radio, but I'm waiting on that for the Midland discount code. Then I need to order a bunch of stuff for the campervan to include a hitch to tow the Taco.

Man, I woke up today thinking of my 100 series punch list. If i get the 40 running by the end of Feb... I'll be tempted to take it instead.

Mark you could hit up the CM committee and see if they have a CV in the trailer... they used to have a trailer filled with spares for common rigs at CM, the idea was we get people off the trail fast with a replacement part. When you get home, you buy a new one and send it back to the gang and Rising Sun and they restock the trailer. Not sure sure of that is a thing still, and obviously you don't want to count on someone else having the spare you need but it sometimes an option. Not sure about Taco parts (not that it isn't bad to carry one with you).

40 prep is a go...

-Fixed intake manifold vacuum leak
-Fixed Carb plate vacuum leak
-Fixed idle fuel solenoid operation
-Adjusted the valves
-Created an exhaust leak at the manifold/head, f#$&... Stupid headers
-Adjusted the fuel air mixture.

Runs way better now that she is breathing properly!

Still on the list, on another weekend

-Adjust/fix parking brake
-Fix Orion popping out of low range, very scary
-Fix front arb solenoid electrical issue
-Replace Windshield
-Replace DS seatbelt
-Fix exhaust leak if time
-Maybe install efi... Maybe, very undecided

Not too bad of a list for a 44 year old vehicle!

Hey Mark,
Wondering what front facing camera you got? I’ve been considering one for a while and now might be the best time to take the plunge. Want, don’t need. 🤑
Thanks

Here it is. The camera is cheaper to buy separately on amazon:
Amazon product ASIN B07H852D49Then buy the wiring kit from Anytime Backup Camera: Anytime Backup and Front Camera - Kit Variants - https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/products/anytime-backup-and-front-camera

Brian, the owner is a Cruiserhead. Waiting to see if he will give me a TLCA discount.

So braintrust... Thinking about a rear dif skid plate for Cruise Moab. Do you all think this is necessary? I really like BAMF. Only 5/16" loss of clearance. I don't like RCI's.

I vote BAMF or a weld on diff cover so no ground clearance is lost

@406Camper, @CCRider FYI, I bought this same kit. because of the viewing angle/fish eye type affect it is hard to see definition or variation (it all kinda looks flat). Just my opinion. Is it useful, yes. It is nice for cresting a convex surface, otherwise it is for random convenience. I bought it on sale over a year ago now, so I bought the whole kit from Anytime. ...just don't do like I did and drop the one sensitive thing in the whole kit, the camera! Yep, I was playing around with placement when it happened. So I just ordered that same camera from amazon.

Chris, was it the upgraded model? I'll bring mine to the meeting on Tuesday and we can compare.

Did anybody go home that night after registering and start making a long list and then think, oh man...
