Stage 2 prepping for blast off.

Awesome. Please post some video at countdown. Unless I've missed others I haven't seen stage 2 video yet.

My tolerance and interest in spending time uploading videos and shït is zero. I’ll take vids and send them to Johnny and he can upload stuff. I have way better things to do with the last number of years of my life.

Awhile back we posted this super clean 80 with an h151F transmission on our instagram

We added King shocks, cleaned up some stuff, fixed some odds and ends, tossed on some 37’s and then put a stage 2 turbo set up on it. Finally got it on the dyno. Need to make some tweaks and then take it back to the dyno but so far this is the most powerful truck we’ve built to date. 430 hp and 535 ftlbs at the wheels! She ABSOLUTELY rips!

When we take it back I am going to do my best to get the dyno operator to do a 3rd -> 4th shift while under load vs a rolling from 1500 rpm while in 4th so we can see true usable powerband as that will provide a different more realistic graph rather than just lugging it in 4th until it starts pulling like a freight train.

@SNLC There ya go a manual haha an absolute dream to drive. We used a UniClutch Sport in this one, the clutch feels great

Question -- my understanding is that the EMU Black uses a MAP sensor -- and doesn't need airflow data from the very problematic VAF sensor (edit-- or is it called AFM sensor) that those of us with 93/94 80's are blessed to have. Does that mean that someone could use the EMU black and the Cruiser and Co harness to get rid of the VAF sensor altogether?

And would that be useful to do even if we are not ready for a turbo just yet? Would it be a good idea? Or is not really worth the cost if you are not doing the turbo?

And if so, will Cruiser and Co consider selling the EMU Black and harness without the turbo?

Edit-- I guess you would also have to install an IAT (Intake Air Temperature Sensor) to use the EMU Black MAP sensor in place of the VAF --- but I think the IAT is also part of the Cruiser and Co kit.

Just wondering

Yes if someone’s AFM were to hit the point that it just won’t work and they can’t find one then they could swap over to our ECU kit/harness and get the truck running again. We don’t have a tune for NA but the basemap would start and run the truck. You could probably add 20-30 hp over the stock tune with the better fuel control and timing that the emu black offers. In some instances it could be useful as you could get more out of the 1FZ and get around failing electronics. It can be ordered as is, turbo or non turbo it is using the same parameters. Already on the website as an à la carte item

IAT and knock sensors come in the kit.

Yeah, honestly that would be a pretty big win by itself, for anyone looking at sticking with the 1FZ, but not ready to pull the trigger on a turbo. Does that integrate transmission control, or do you wind up running the Black and the OEM ECU both?

You end up with both but the TCU in the 93/94 is separate from the OEM ECU. We didn't go down the road of transmission control with the EMU because we knew the A750F swap was coming down the pipeline since before we got far on the standalone project. We knew early on we were going to use the Compushift for that project since it's such a proven unit and highly tailorable to what we're doing.

Also if someone starts having TCU issues, the compushift can control the 442 and a343 effortlessly and connect to the Emu Black via CAN. The compushift and our harnesses are already preconfigured for this.

A750 deets if anyone missed that thread
