We are wrapping this one up right now. The turbo install has been done for a few weeks or more but we had a laundry list on the build too. Most of that is all done now.

Haven’t put more than five miles on it yet but a bunch more miles are to come starting next week. I have certainly done some full wot pulls though already to 5k rpm’s. This is the low boost system with the intercooler so I can’t get it to do a 4wheel burn out even on wet pavement but it is still impressive!!

Full review to come, this Cruiser goes home in just over three weeks. Air box built by us among other things.

Hey Cruiserheads!

This build thread will document a full restoration on a 1995 FZJ80.

This Cruiser came to us from Texas. The owner liked another 80 build we did and wanted the same level of detail and quality. We briefly discussed a v8 swap but pretty quickly that just went to full refresh on the 1FZFE.

There is nothing really fancy planned in this build, just a full refresh with some upgrades and goodies.

This is a 6M1 Cruiser with tan leather. It had about 175,000 on it upon arrival at the shop.

First order of business was to test compression on the 27yr old 1FZFE...

I like the energy haha. But it was a pain when I had my built Subie. I have a magnuson SC but will def switch to turbo if I could

Yea MT is cooperating with CA on this, and if you get pulled over with MT plates, expect to provide MT DL and MT auto insurance or insta-flag. I had issues a while ago, and I had family property in MT.

My neighbor is a PD and they have a task force just for such in the cities. CA claims lost revenues on out of state vechicle sales tax, smog and DMV. They keep tabs on out of state plates around town.
But hey.....SUCK IT CA!!

I think for most as long as you’re not doing something stupid you’re going to be fine. I got nailed for speeding (turbo had zero part… ) a few months ago in CO and they didn’t care at all

The "Task Force" prob costs taxpayers MORE than the lost revenue from out of state registrations. This is government logic for ya.
