Anyone in the Norcal area (@Bisonthecruiser) .....can check out the recent OBD1 1.5 Turbo build on Dec 6th at Terrain Tamer location

I will also be hitting some major areas along the way if anyone wants to check out @efjayatee ’s 80. Will be passing through Grand Junction, Salt Lake and Reno. Give me some heads up and we can likely get together!

rice power!

@Cruisers and Co Any updates on the previously hinted 80 series transmission upgrade/swap? I know there is another thread going on regarding a couple specific trans options, but you mentioned Toyota remanned option, and no one in that thread is talking about anything Toyota built. Been casually shopping for 80 series and curious how close you are to having costs and details on this swap.

2nd this request. This mod will determine if I LS/LT swap or add the turbo and 8 speed trans.. Trans would be a game changer in itself.

We are wrapping this one up right now. The turbo install has been done for a few weeks or more but we had a laundry list on the build too. Most of that is all done now.

Haven’t put more than five miles on it yet but a bunch more miles are to come starting next week. I have certainly done some full wot pulls though already to 5k rpm’s. This is the low boost system with the intercooler so I can’t get it to do a 4wheel burn out even on wet pavement but it is still impressive!!

Full review to come, this Cruiser goes home in just over three weeks. Air box built by us among other things.

Link to build thread,

Cheers

I’d like to thank everyone for the support this year. Truly amazing at how much turboing went on this year, seriously. We installed a bunch, had multiple vendors installing them and lots of DIY installs. Tons of development on the stage 2 happened and 93/4’s now have a real solution for turboing their 80’s. This wouldn’t be possible without everyone on here! Thank you from myself and the team at Cruisers and Company. Cheers to a great year and can’t wait to bring forward a bunch of great things in 2026! Oh and just this afternoon @reklund5 got his stage 1+ up and running to close out one more install for 2025!

@EWheeler @Brav You transmission guys hang tight… I am hoping to have the deets by the end of January. I have a bellhousing sitting on my toolbox at the shop… It’s a Toyota trans that is robust, well proven, will have tap shift and torque converter lockup in every gear. It’s stronger than the A343 too so now we’re going to start seeing people push more than 14 psi which should net over 400hp/500ftlbs to the ground pretty easily with the stage 2 setup given we’re already have truck making 364/481 through the 343…
