I’ve had some bad experiences purchasing in the landcruiser parts market, but I think I just reached a new level. I just bought a brand new H152 transmission sealed up with clear silicon bathroom caulk. I guess fipg is on back order in NH!

2 week lead turns into 6. My bad for not listening, but damn…

These people have to be dope sick….

Red FIPG is $25. Sooooo cheap.

33030-60C51 (vdj) h152 is about $2500 plus shipping or local pick up add sales tax.
The other parts are $350 shipped
$25 tube of toyota red FIPG.

How much did you give cruiserparts for their parts and work!?

I’m not here to bust your balls. However, I’m curious why you choose these 2 vendors vs some of the extremely well known vendors on here? Was it price?

Thank you for sharing this as a warning to the rest of us! I’m sorry you’re going thru this!

I’m not sure why I chose them. The first swap I purchased because it was from someone within 1.5 hours of me. The second I figured what could go wrong, it’s a new part and the lead time was quick. Honestly, whoever I could get on the phone was a big factor. I run a decent sized business and have a lot going on so I like to get stuff ordered and move on. Lesson learned.

It wasn’t price. 2 week lead. I was in a hurry because I was using a friend’s lift with a dead truck. I have a lift being installed Tuesday at my place so I’m not in a hurry anymore.

The synchro on the input shaft was installed incorrectly. The transmission just flat out doesn’t work. So now I’m figuring out how to fix it.

I think I paid $4500 with the 1fz input shaft installed.

Sucks getting burned. I have lost on a couple 45 wagons i bought, a dead 1hdt by sellers in Florida, and a number of small deals. But one learns. In todays world ask first before jumping into anything. You can also check locals to stop in an get a personal opinion. I was given a weekend off hours tour of Greg Mushro’s shop in flagstaff and was horrified. We hope you get good advice from here on out.

I'm currently in Australia. Just purchased a FULL h151 swap for my 80. I paid a low price for it and I even have the ECU.

So the sellers of these used transmission swaps are making out like bandits charging those prices. A get rich scheme that is ripping people off, its just sickening but I guess that's free market mentality and buyers really need to be aware.

There are plenty of deals down under and an honest individual with good financing could make a great business out of the used market by shipping a container to the USA.

I'm in Canada so shipping is 50% more for me. I am bringing things back to sell which will pay for my shipping of the crate so my swap to be more economical, if I do the swap. I just may sell it after I go through the gearbox as I will teardown for insp/refresh before I install.

No one on Earth is getting rich selling used Land Cruiser parts.

True!

Rich was an exaggeration, but Marv Spector did quite well!

But there are those making good money selling s*** used parts as is apparent by the OP’s post.

It was a new H152 transmission with a 1fz bellhousing and input shaft.

Just an update for the future potential customers... The 5th gear syncro on the 1fz input shaft is seized to the gear somehow, so the transmission does not function. Basically high prices for longer than advertised lead times and broken parts.

Figuring out what to do with it. I can fix it, but it's some bs, but I've learned a lot about how manual transmissions work. May just order another one and fight these people over $5k.

Did you pay for it with a credit card? Depending on the timeframe you might be able to file a dispute/chargeback with your credit card company. But don’t wait! I unfortunately waited too long on an issue I had previously with a different company and the cc company couldn’t do anything.

You bought a brand new transmission right?

If thats how it came from manufacturer how is that the fault of the reseller or is there more to this than just a new trans?

What did they say when you raised the issue to them?

There is a lot more to this. A new transmission is just the beginning of an H152F conversion journey.
