Hey, truck died on me while driving. Spark keeps dying out. It starts and then shuts off. Ignitor and coil are good, so I'm thinking I have to replace the distributor. Is this common for a '93 FZJ-80 with 130k.
Am I the only one on here that gets stuck on the road with their cruiser? Seems that everyone makes it back home when these things happen except me.

That was yesterday, today, it won't turn over anymore. The spark was dying out and then the truck shut off. Now, nothing. I'm lost here guys.

How's your battery and alt? Increasingly less starts and dwindling to nothing driving sounds like the alt died and the battery got sucked dry.

When was the last time you put in plugs, wires, cap, etc? (tune up stuff)

Mine died suddenly, a couple of misses then dead. I had no spark at the plug wire ends, but I did at the coil. I checked the dist cap and rotor, looked fine. Replaced cap, rotor and wires anyway. Much to my surprise, it fired right up. Best bet is OEM stuff from CruiserDan at American Toyota 800-432-6668 ext 8.

Boy Rocky, you learn quickly for a newbie. hehehe :flipoff2: Found Cdan and did more than I could do on a cruiser in 5 posts (not that DIY more than me really means that much as Cdan will attest).

Well, well, well. I knew it couldn't be too serious. Was gettin' spark from coil, and ignitor, so it had to be the distributor right??? Wrong!!! :whoops:

It was the fusible link by the relay/fuse box on the hood. the wire had burned out. So $100 tow charge and 2 days later, I had success. Whew.....that distributor is not the cheapest thing in the world!!!! Thanks for the advice guys.

131k : ;)

In order to repair you need to determine why the fusible link blew and correct the underlying problem.
