Maybe Chit Chat is the wrong place for this.

I'm kind of interested in an 80 in Elkins, WV. Anyone close that could look it over. A Carfax report would be cool, too. The VIN# is in the other thread. I'd be a little nervous buying a cruiser sight unseen.

TIA

A fellow club member bought an 80 from them about 6 months ago andwas happy with the deal. Before I bought my 80 I called they guy and I got a good impression from him even though I ended up buying my cruiser locally.

Thanks. That's good to know. The guy seems OK. I'm a little leery about rust, being an east coast vehicle. And shipping to CO would cost around $800.

There is a guy in WV that posts a lot of cruisers on ebay that all look nice...most dont meet the reserve though...maybe he is posting the cruiser you are inquiring about...I talked to the guy on ebay before I found one locally and he seemed to know a lot about 80 series cruisers...know this is not much help but from my opinion he seemed like a good guy who knew what a cruiser was worth

From what I remember talking to him he buys most of the cruisers at action and targets ones with lockers & leather. I believe he said the actions were in PA but don't quote me on that.

Like you are doing run a carfax and you'll be able to see where the cruiser spent most of its life to determine if rust may be a factor.

I agree with all the above comments. This guy has bought some Cruiser parts from me and my interactions with him as a seller were very good. I looked at a lot of his trucks in the past and most did seem to come from auctions in the Northeast USA. Salt exposure should definitely be considered. Carfax or COnsumer Guide both offer history reports and in my opinion it is money well-spent.
