That sucks! Stuff like this scares me!

Why? I can only insure my cruiser with liability insurance! I can't get full coverage! Why? Kuwait law states no car older than 5 years is allowed to be fully insured, or at least that's what the insurance companies tell me!

I thought that country was one of those 'eye for an eye' type places. Don't they have the death penalty for crack users? You probably don't have to worry near as much as someone in an American urban area. :D
But seriously, do they have the same kind of idiots running from the cops there?

So you're covered by his insurance right? But are you telling me that the insurance company would cover the the Lumina when the driver was drunk and on crack and evading police? I'm sure I misundestood something.

Sorry about your truck.

LOL! Kuwait used to be a place where "An eye for an eye!" was kinda the law but not anymore! ;p As for the crack users, they don't have the death penalty for that! Honestly the drugs you would read about in the papers that are used here are hash and heroin! You hear or X and weed but on extremely rare cases!
As for chases, that rarely occurs and if they do they get stopped on the interstates! The cops here are crazy! They use extreme force and they do not believe in something called police brutality! That is not in their dictionary!

Damn that sucks..... at least he had insurance and now you get all new parts.... I'm amazed that the lumina looks so good. I'd have imagined that it would be bent in half hitting an arb'd cruiser at 80

Can Toyota supply me with the parts necessary for this fix? such as a brand new front axle with locker?

I'd say yes but it is going to be expensive. I'd be getting prices of LC's like yours that have sold in your area in the last few months to show true value. The insco is going to try to total it.

The insurance company will replace it with a LKQ (like kind and quality) part. Your truck isn't brand new, so they're not going to give you a new front axle. They'll price a used one, or the parts to fix what you have. But yeah, they'll probably total it- your best bet is to prove it's worth a lot of money, a)making it difficult for them to total it and b) so if they do total it they pay you what it's worth- which is what it would take to replace it. Good luck. :D

Insurance company obligations

I don't think that the other driver's insurance company can force you to total the cruiser out. They are responsible not just for the structural damages, but also for the loss of use, so the have an obligation to provide a replacement rental at no cost to you, that is equivalent in size for your use while your vehicle is being repaired, i.e. they have to rent you another SUV...

I had a car that was hit by an underage driver who was driving his parent's insured vehicle, and their insurance company bent over backwards to avoid going to court. They drove me to the rental company, paid for the rental themselves, and repaired every part with OEM parts, ...and the vehicle was about 14 years old at the time.

If they won't give you a rental, tell them you will just rent on your own, and would have to take them to court for it, I think they would cooperate then...

PM phaedrus, he can give you some pointers.......

Holly  that one thing I dont like park on street.
Don't you park in a hyperbaric chamber, or something like that?

Sorry to hear about the "accident". Hope it works out.

Considering that this was a police action, the city or the PD may be covering losses that occurred during the chase. I would check into it, you'll probably get better treatment from them than the auto insurance.

That truck is a total loss.

Bye Bye Piglet

Well i checked the truck out really good all day. I think that she might have to be totaled. If they give me at least $13,000 for her i will take it.

The impact was very hard and who knows what trouble you are going to run into down the road. The drivetrain damage was just a chain reaction from front to back.

Now i have to hunt for another 80 which is something i was not planning on doing any time soon. 94-97 locked with under 100k is what i'm looking for. I am willing to go anywhere USA to acquire just the right one.

It's sad to think that the piglet is gone, she was given to me by my father. When he bought it i was a senior in highschool. That truck was wheeled hard from day one and held up great. She will be missed.

That suxs. Hope you can get it fixed correctly or get an equal replacement.
Even if the crack head had ins. They will try to lowball your repairs /or vehicle damage.
That is how they make $$$.

If it makes you feel any better, I got a brand new '94 when I was in high school, and I sold it this year. As much as I loved that truck, I like the new one more. It's given me the freedom to start over with it.

You'll be okay.

Good luck.

How many miles?

For a 94 you'll never get 13k unless it has like 40,000 miles.

My 93 with 169k got me only 9300, and that was 2 years ago.....
