Cruiser casualty and fatalities

In Chicago, there are alot of celebrations for the cubs winning the world series last night and tonight I have seen a few drunk drivers causing fatal accidents. I was wondering how much do I need to worry about causalities and fatalities in the 200.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with an accident in a 200? Has anyone heard of anyone dying in one? There are soo few on the road that there isn't much statistical data available. Someone here on mud had a large trailer truck smash their cruiser and they were fine... Perhaps someone has a link?

Individual accounts don't really mean a lot, but personally...if I knew I was going to be hit by a drunk in another vehicle, I can't think of anything I'd rather be in than the 200. It's a beast at 3 tons, has airbags out the yin-yang...an effective, active seatbelt emergency tensioner, and a super strong frame.

There's a video of that crash test online. It's amazing to see how well the cabin is protected during a frontal or frontal-offset crash.

Skitym: I just saw your post. Crazy accident! Glad no one was hurt. How long did it take for the soreness to go away if I may ask? My coworker totaled his Hyundai earlier this year on his way to work and his spine hasn't been the same for 9 months.

Comparing a fully size SUV with a pickup truck is not fair. Think weight, and cab size, plus they are designed to two different standards. SUVs are a passenger vehicle and trucks are not (I could be wrong, but I think this is correct.)

Now, to compare the LC to a Tundra would be an even more unfair comparison, as the LC has a fully boxed frame and the Tundra does not. The boxed frame will be much stiffer and able to hold the passenger compartment together better.

It didn't take that long. Probably around 4 days. Those seat belts REALLY cinch down tight on your body.

Not a 200, but my younger brother rolled my 100 in an accident a couple of times, all four passengers with the driver were ok.

my 2nd time in Iraq, we got in another gunfight, some cool guys with their brand new 200s for some reason throught they could drive down that road, and one hit a pressure plate IED or something annoying, either way it blew the whole back end off, rear axle and up, then I saw that cruiser drive off into an ally with its front end and dragging its frame/body work. All those contractors lived.

Every time I think of my 200, I think about that, and outside of a space shuttle landing on me, I feel pretty good.

I did volunteer work in Jalalabad in late 2011...saw many UN Cruisers & crazy stuff...but WOW.

I have never seen anything take as much abuse then a TLC 200, that is why it has always been the choice platform for armoring in hostile environments. Even if you remove the armored versions, the softskins could take heavy damage and still make it down the road. Which is far more then what could have been said about the Suburbans and Pajero that also flooded the area. The only thing else that could compare to the TLC 100/200 in Iraq where the Ford Excursions.

It is a very safe platform, but here in the Middle East (and GCC) we properly have more fatalities in the TLC 200 in 1 week then the USA would have in a whole yr. But that is all due to the drivers we have here, and the fact that they like to drive them at 160+ km/h and just cut across the highway.
