So this year I am all in on going to Cruise Moab. I have started making the plans, have talked to a few folks out there already as well as some friends here who have been to Moab and Alex who attended the event next year.

Made reservations at the Moab Valley Inn today for a few of the nights we are out there.

My buddy Huck who some of you have met is going out with me. He has been to 6 or so events with me over the years and can cook like no other so he is our team photographer, cook, and navigator!

Our plan is to Ship my 80 out to my brother in Denver the week or 2 before hand packed with as much as we think we will need and then the 2 of us will fly out and arrive in Denver either early in the day Tuesday or late Monday. Cost wise its prob a little more in the grand total to ship/fly but time is precocious as young parents who own their own biz so there is def value to us to get out there and spend our time at the event.

I am really looking forward to it as it has been a dream of mine since getting my first cruiser in 1996.

Is anyone else from here planning on attending this year?

Oh man. This has been the topic of much discussion.

I won't be able to attend this year as both my mother and Laura are graduating from their respective colleges, so I've got a lot of traveling lined up. In addition, I'm still lacking lockers, beadlocks and armor, which is too much to get done for the trip in May. Instead of Moab '15, I was planning on Moab '16 so that I have more time to get my truck ready to assault Pritchett.

@Burt88 will certainly be there, as will a bunch of my friends from Gotham City Land Cruisers.

Which trails are you going to do?

I am not sure quite yet on trails. I hope to do the Koko overnight trip. I talked with a guy out there and he said i could be fine on all the trails but he would give me a little more guidance once i got out there.

Any recommendations Johnny?

Moab is a blast! You will have no issues with finding trails you can run as I have run trails there from my bone stock 200 to (yes, I am a reformed Heep owner) a TJ riding on 36s with D44/D60 axles.

Just make absolutely sure your tires are covered with flares and mud flaps if necessary. Don't ask me why I know this ;)

Please elaborate on this. Last time I was in Moab, there were a number of trucks with tires outside of flares and whatnot.

Heck, @Burt88 was there last year with his IROCs that stick out of his fender wells, without flares.

UT code requires "adequate tire coverage" as a part of their vehicle code. If you are in Moab for a big event, the gendarmes like to pull folks over and ticket them if they are running on public roads. I got pulled over about 10 years ago because I was missing the right rear flare on my Heep. I got out of it because the pieces were in the back and the gouge marks on the body were not yet rusting since I lost an argument with a rock about 2 hours earlier.

This is why there are products like this .... http://www.teraflex.biz/mud-flaps.html

Look at this link http://www.liftlaws.com/utah_lift_laws.htm scroll to fenders. In many cases the issue is that wider tires are viewed as increasing the track width.

Lift laws in UT....... Not enforced all the time but they can use it if they want to

And they tend to use it more around big events ... well known issue around the Easter event ....

Yep..... There was a very large article in 4wheeler about this a few years back. Poor jeeps ......

I'd love to do 2015, but I'm trying to make that my graduation present to myself in 2017...

All you folks putting off another year are slackers!:moon: I will of course be at the event and probably doing inspections and/or car crushing demonstrations. Johnny, I'm tired of your excuses. I'll pick you up from your flight into Grand Junction and you can ride with me again. My rig won't be fully ready by then but enough so to hit some challenges. No matter what vehicle you have there are trails worth going on. All of them, even simple dirt roads, are worth the trip. If my rig is not ready at all I'm gonna take the 4runner I just got and do some really easy stuff. To do the Kokopelli overnight I'd suggest a minimum of 33 inch tires, full size spare, water storage, and extra fuel. Beyond that you will survive. There is video of a ford crown vic doing hells revenge so nuff said. As far as the laws about fender flares and mudflaps, no one at Cruise Moab has ever had a problem, not even buggies, I think mainly because we are a lot more tame and courteous to the community than heepers. All the locals like us coming to town. I'll keep everyone posted about whether or not I'm booking a cabin this year but everyone should try to stay at or close to the Slickrock Campground where the event is centered.

Just booked a cabin at slickrock. At the moment there are two single beds available from Monday April 27 through Saturday night. 6 nights. $125 for each bed for the week. Camping outside is cool and all but I'm tired of cottonwood crap all over my stuff. And AC is a nice feature when I drink too early and need a mid day nap.

Whoa whoa whoa there cowboy. You put a 4BT and one ton axles under your truck first, then you can call me a slacker :flipoff2:

<---------- Slacker Definition: He who can not afford to go to Moab and take the 8 day cruise we took over the holidays

So Mike, what trails are you doing this year?

Please tell me you're going to do pritchett.
