HaHaHa! A Cruise??!! Over Moab??!! Who was driving that rig? What kind of motor did it have? Did it get out of the water and drive on the beach? Sorry, gotta ask the important questions. My land yacht climbs rocks and is powered by the actual anchor.

Johnny, not gonna make it on pritchett this year. I doubt I'll have the anti wrap gear in place and I don't want to risk it yet. My current setup will get me over most of Moab but I want to get the V8 installed before configuring any more undercarriage work. After that anchor is pulled out and I have the new engine in place I'm gonna incorporate the anti wrap to the front and rear with a heavy skid plate. Currently all I need is a new rear drive shaft to drive her to Moab and run trails. If I have the budget I'll swap the motor before Moab. If not I'll get it done later. Current upgrades; LED flood lights, almost new 39.5 inch Iroks, replacement gas tank, Rancho RS9000 shocks. I guess my first Moab trip is still not done.

Yup a cruise, over the ocean, dont know the captain's name, had some really huge motors that double as generators, it stayed in the water

Though I sent you a pic on the phone, I'll share with the rest of you.

Being from the East, I did a similar thing for CM10, you will not regret the trip. The scenery, wheeling, and social aspect of the trip will make you want to go back as often as possible!

Safe travels!

Any tips on trails to hit? I signed up for fins n things but any advice is welcomed.

Cannot freakin wait

My favorite Cruise Moab run is Golden Spike on Saturday. I did it both times I attended and it's really a great way to end the week. It's a really long day with no break in obstacles and some fun challenges and beautiful scenery. We almost got out in daylight last year until a guy sucked his sheared pinion into his rear diff on the the last climb. It's rated a Level 7 only because of the length. The black 80 in the pics ran it. This year I'm running Wednesday night Hells Revenge, Thursday Metal Masher (Level 6), Friday Wipeout Hill (Level 5), and Saturday Kane Creek Canyon (Level 6). Any truck on 33's can run Level 5-6. There are 3 Level 7 trails this year but Pritchett is not one of them. It's hard to recommend one trail over another though. Every one has something to remember. I'll be arriving at Slickrock campground on Sunday and will be finding folks to run trails with Monday and Tuesday. I'd really like to get up to Top of the World again. I'll be in cabin C2 so come and find me. I'll PM my number too you.

A run to Top of the World, then down Rose Garden Hill and out Onion Creek is always a nice run as well with some reasonable obstacles along the way.

If you want an interesting break, there are plenty of fairly scenic drives that are all dirt that range from easy to damned hard depending upon the weather. A loop I like to make there starts up Onion Creek and cuts up into the high country near Polar Mesa via Hideout Canyon. Then South to Gateway Castleton Road, then winding back towards Moab going over LaSalle Pass (I think). I don't have a map in front of me, but you can fairly easily pick the route up on the Trails Illustrated maps. The route covers desert and mountain terrain and could very well be impassable over the LaSalles in May due to snow. Plenty of opportunity to see a lot of wildlife on the loop and a nice side trip to some old mining ruins to the North on Polar Mesa.

How much is it going to cost you to ship your 80? I'm looking at prices for a Nevada trip this year and probably the Dusy next year. Driving out is not so bad, but driving back sucks after you know the trip is coming to an end.

Shipping back seems like a great idea.

Travis, I didnt sign up for the recovery class but I will be around. I'll most likely be helping with inspections and going on the night run on Wednesday so I didnt want to over obligate myself. I'd be more than happy to drive onto the demonstration car again though.

This year I'm running Wednesday night Hells Revenge, Thursday Metal Masher (Level 6), Friday Wipeout Hill (Level 5), and Saturday Kane Creek Canyon (Level 6).

Did you get these trail assignments? Great if yes. But I'm biased - I'm leading three of four. Clue 1: Bring a flashlight

Those are my trails, and I always carry a flashlight. Looking forward to it.

I leave at 7am Tuesday to fly out. I cannot wait. My 80 sits in Denver all packed up and ready to go.
We are scheduled to run the overnight wed/Thursday trip on San Rafael Swell, fins n things Friday and elephant hill Saturday.

I may switch Saturday and do either Kane Creek or Poison spider Mesa. Does anyone have any opinions on those 3?

It's my friend Huck riding shotgun and another buddy driving in to ride along on Thursday.

I've dreamed about this trip since I got my first 60 in 1997 and joined tlca!

Sweet! Have fun and for sure buy a lot of raffle tickets. The raffle is top notch. Also see if anyone will take you out to BFE... Maybe mike will.

Also, don't be afraid of the trails. They talk them up like some are life or death, and to be fair there are a few spots where you could really mess up bad, but your cruiser will smoke those trails.

Josh, if you can, try to get on the kane creek run for saturday with me. I'll be in cabin C2 at slickrock CG so come find me when you can. I'll do my part to make sure you're on the trails you want.

The trails are unlike anywhere else and you won't believe what your truck will be capable of. Just follow the spotters directions on anything tough and be cautious of that skinny pedal. The rock is so sticky that snapping drive line components is about the only risk. You'll love it, looking forward to seeing you there.

Agree with that completely. After a week there, you'll come back here, look at a bad hill climb and think "that's easy" and immediately have trouble

Don't ask me how I know that ;)

I hope my post didn't come across disrespecting the Moab area! I did not intend that at all... The point i was trying to get across is that I was EXTREMELY nervous when i first got there not knowing what to expect. I was sitting at the moab 4x4 outpost with guys with jeeps running 44 inch tires and those guys were telling me that i should reconsider a lot of the trails i was signed up for. They had me even more nervous (I was there getting an exhaust issue welded up). So, i changed one of my trails for a milder trail. After running that trail, my balls got a little more manly and i thought that wasn't too bad. So i switched up the trail ride again and put a harder trail back in place. I was just fine! I was super glad that i went ahead and took a more difficult trail.

Slee was leading the run, the spotting was great and i felt safe. So, what i really mean is don't be intimidated to try something you really want to try.
