A collegue of mine has a GPS unit with him and I finally have a chance to calibrate my TrueSpeed modulator.

Simple task, set cruise to 70 mph and then adjust TrueSpeed until GPS verifies 70 mph.

Cruise don't work and my books are at home. No light nothing. I've just installed my stereo and CB and came off an engine tear down so I got to beleive I fawked something. Can somebody post some possible connection near where I was that might cause the problem. I still have time in the AM to calibrate this bastard.

BTW from what I can tell I'm only off about 1~1.5 mph at 60. This is from calculating the error of the 315 tires and 4.88 gearing and applying it to the tachometer reading. Not to bad.

Fuse?

Check and make sure that the acuator is plugged in and thefuse is good. While under the hood check that the cable is hooked up, it won't cause the light not to function but give it all a once over. If nothing still remove the unit and take a look at the motor and in switch/gear area. Here is a shot of the switches. My cruise control was flaking out and it turned out to be the contacts circled in the pic. There are a couple threads on Gotham City Cruisers yahoo list from me and another guy that had trouble. Good luck.

Great pic. :D

Do excercise caution if you open up the servo. There are no replacement parts serviced for them. The price of a new one will take your breath away. :o

I'll be sure to wear my glasses

...Very slim chance of this , but the only thing thats messed with my cruise in the past has been the brake actuator switch ; or whatever it's called . My break pedal would droop and activate the switch , and then my cruise would be fooled into shutting down . Any chance that circuit was messed with , or that your break light circuit is kicking on ?

Sorry I can't be more help ..

Oh, that reminds me. To add to Tyler's post, on some cruise control systems if a brake light bulb is blown out the system will not work. I don't know if Toyota included that type of logic in the system, the guys with manuals can double check that.

Kris

Thanks for the help guys. Once I'm home with my manuals I hope to find it. I'll check the brake light this morning. Wierd thing is it just won't turn on.

Hey, maybe the bulbs blown? Is that one of the lights that should come on during the bulb check at startup?

if you are showing a brake light on the dash due to low fluid level (or a bad fluid level sensor) it will not engage at all. if you are not even getting the light on my guess is on a fuse.

Keep me posted. Still getting over the shock of a new servo, msrp and smart shopper. Haven't replaced - no intention of replacing with new. Yikes! You can drive ALOT with your foot for the price of replacing this little piece of Yota hardware. hehehe

Found the problem. WIth all my wiring in the dash I knocked the coonector loose from the control unit.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe aniother trip I'll meet up with this guy and get my speedo calibrated.

....Rick ,

I've always just gone to a local shop and borrowed a GPS unit from them . They always provide me with one with those bean bag bases that work so well on the dash ...

...reminds me , maybe I ought to do that again today after going 315 MT's .. might be sliiiightly outta wack . :D

Anyway try that .. go into a mining shop , or Natural resouce supplies place and inquire .. a hiking shop might help , but I doubt it .. unless you BS and ask to use it overnite to see if you like it ...

Hell just buy and return .... tell 'em your wife didn't want it .. that she actually hated it .. and if you don't immediately return it , and go down the street and buy a spa package , your marriage days are numbered .. hehe :P

...Oh , thats an easy fix . When the wrath subsides .. show up with a lovely big 'something ruther' thats shes been pining after for a while .. and leave it up there on the rack , until she herself finds her way to it .. and comes running up to you to inquire .

....."oh that ! Hope you like it ... I was waiting till I had a proper , strong rack till I picked it up .. been planning for some time ... since you mentioned it many moons ago . Enjoy :-*"

I showed up at the house last night with Junk's Hannibal rack on the truck. No so nice of a welcome >:(.

I tried to tell you............ :ban: But, was it missing any screws? :flipoff2:

That sorta reminds me of my slider story:

a couple years ago I was drinking beer around the wash-tub campfire at Cruise Moab with Jim Brantly and Ken Hanna. I was lusting after Jim's sliders and asked him how I could get some. He said "the guy that made 'em is sitting next to you" So I said, in a slightly impared fashion  , "Make me some". It seems that I failed to mention it to my lovely wife :o
Some weeks later they arrived at the store (Christmas in July ::) ) and myself and my shipper ripped the carton open to admire them on the dock. About once or twice a year my wife will pop in un-announced for a quick visit :o . There I was, standing in a pile of cardboard and shrinkwrap when SHE wanders in the door :o :o "What are those things for?" :whoops:

What was the nature of the problem and how did you fix the problem?
