Brought the LX to a shop this morning for an alignment. Same shop has done alignments on my LX in the past with no issues.

Truck felt/seemed just fine on the way home (10 min drive). Went back into town a few hours later, and immediately noticed that the steering wheel was pointing to the right (1:30 position) when going straight. Went straight to the shop, they looked at it for 30 minutes, said they reset a bunch of sensors, took it for a drive, it was fine now. Driving back in town literally two minutes later, I see that the steering wheel is now pointed to the left (10:30 position).

Shop said to bring it in again tomorrow morning and leave it with them, they'll likely re-do the alignment.

I've never had the steering wheel orientation get worse after an alignment. Anything specific I/they need to look out for?

I think there is a recentering / zero point calibration procedure that I think is done with Techstream. I had the same thing after an alignment once and before I could take it back to the shop it fixed itself after driving around for a while. I don’t understand how that works but it went from about 10 deg off to fine after driving probably less than 10 miles and several time shutting the off and on. I did take it back to the shop after it seemed to have fixed itself and they checked it again and said they checked the zero point and it was fine. It’s been fine since.

Read up on our VGRS system. Something about it isn’t happy after the alignment.

If the shop is using a recent Hunter Rack the software should talk them through the zero point calibration. Or you can print a copy and bring it with you. If they sharp turn into the bay without doing the zero points it’s a guaranteed clocked wheel.

I'm not sure what they use. They mentioned something about Snap On software, but I might have misheard.

They did another two alignments, lots of test drives, seems better now. I'm still not sure it's 100%, but pretty close. Will see how it goes over the next little while.

Wait. Wait. I can zero my wheel in Techstream?!
Does this also work on 2008 LCs?

I'm no expert here. I believe that there is a zero point calibration in Techstream that I assume is part of the VGRS system. I don't know what MY have VGRS.

I believe it’s all US 200 series.

Just for other people’s info, the zero point cal isn’t just for steering. It tells the stability system what the neutral state of the vehicle is (like front/rear rake) so it can act like it’s supposed to when that stability intervention is needed.

I 200% head later with my laptop to my car… would be awesome since I am pushing like since years my mechanical steering wheel alignment always to the future.

Update: nope, the GX trim doesn’t have those fancy steering functions ;_;
VGRS Ecu not responding/aviable….
