I have a 1993 LC with 186k miles on it and will most likely sale it for a new one in a week or so....my problem is that there is a cricket/squeeking sound in the drivers side area...either right behind the dash or in the engine bay area. I have spent time trying to chase down the sound under the dash, but no luck. Was thinking it might be the original OEM shock making the noise....I just don't want to turn away any potential buyers b/c of that annoying sound.

Tighten the upper shock mount and see if that makes any diff.

O.K. this is going to sound weird but, i also had a cricket sound. Tracked it down and there was a loose screw on the door speaker. As the truck would drive the slightest road vibration would make a chirping sound. ONly way i figured it out was hearing one day while driving and accidentally mashing my foot against the speaker, then it stopped. So i took the door panel off and found a loose screw on the speaker, tightened it and the sound is gone. But, it sounded just like a cricket chirp.

I had that sound coming at me and growing for a few months. Finally tracked it down to a poorly mounted fan on my air con and it stopped after I had it dismounted, cleaned and re mounted.

I get a cricket squeak and I think it is the rear slider window on the drivers side...maybe some dry silicone will lube it up?

Any chance it is the little rubber bumpers that hold the hood in place? Happens on my other car, I just use a little white lithium grease and it keeps them quiet.

The sound actually quiets down when I put the shifter out of Drive...if I put it into Neutral, then no sound. I get the crickets when I am idling at a stop light or driving....

If you get it at idling, i don't think it is the shock mounts.
Cheers,
Sean

if you have crickets - try bug spray, first.
Seriously another area to look at is glove box or evap box( if you have taken the box off before good chances its not on correctly, clips loose)

I checked the mounts...the damn shocks shift around when I move them by hand. I think that could be it...I tried to tighten them up, but the damn nut won't move. Going to PB blast it overnight and will try tomorrow. I also took the aftermarket alarm horn off b/c I thought it was vibrating...no luck there.
AZCruiser, I'll check the evap box..are you talking about the "AC amplifier Box" near the glovebox? I haven't touched, but will check the clips.

Thanks,

My A/C box, the condensation rubber drip hose was clogged, I had a foul smell and the core was covered in much and mildew because the drip line was clogged. I didnt assemble it back the correct way and had a plastic/plastic squeak. If you havent messed with it I bet its not the problem.

recently pulled the passenger seat and console cleaning up dog barf (joy) going back in with the console I stripped one of the the 4 side screws (dam self tapping sheetmetal) , now the console makes noise at idle, the motor makes deeper lower frequency vibrations at idle than at driving speed, especially in gear, laying my arm on the console stoppes the noise,
