This was a well thought out answer. You sir are da man. With all these discrepancies, why do you think it’s still a good buy?
Not speaking for Nemesis, but I’d say it’s a good buy, if the price right, because these seeming discrepancies, are all desirable things and there aren’t any obvious red flags as to how it was carried out. IMO, I’d say as long as it checks out, just look at the vehicle as a whole, not with a laser focus on what it should be. Look at what it is, which looks like a nice rig!!

As @mjosoba said, regardless of when the changes were made, a lot of them are desirable. The OP has already stated the car runs very well, and I don't see any red flags from the pictures. There's evidence of some kind of oil leak around the front diff, but nothing major to set off alarms.

The 1HDFT with a manual gearbox is many people's dream setup. A lot of the extra accessories would be considered a win by most people too. On my own HZJ80 I've personally swapped in power mirrors, power antenna, central locking, variable intermittent wipers, factory cruise control, headlight retainer relay, and a bunch of aftermarket mods, because I wanted them. This rig already comes with a lot of that done. And a lack of factory lockers is a win IMO. I feel it's far better to get a model without factory lockers and fit a Harrop elocker then getting a factory locked model. Simpler, stronger, more reliable.

If that car was in front of me, and the price was right, I'd buy it.

I think re applying a coat of whatever color liner after a good scrub and scuff would be more value for your effort than trying to strip all that s*** off.

@Nemesis1207 !!! Your response had me laughing and saucer-eyed at the same time. What a forensic analysis of the vehicle - holy s***. Really appreciate you taking the time to walk me through all of that. I was getting hung up on what it should/shouldn't have (and it has been fun and it is good to know the facts) but as you and @mjosoba and others have said, what really matters is whether it is mechanically sound and features what I want for the right price. It ticks all of those boxes. A bonus to know that it has a bunch of in-cab niceties that it did not come with from the factory.

@Railwelder93, totally agree. However, you would not believe how cheap labor is here. I was wincing wondering what a full strip and paint job would cost and found out that the average cost for one in a (makeshift) spray room with actual airbrush work is $300!!! Another WTF - haha. They even have a Sikkens dealer in town (quality paint hikes the price up a bit).

Feeling super comfortable now and really appreciate everyone's input!
