Crap...PROBLEMS!

I wonder if, when removing the injectors and the scavenging line connecting all injectors, maybe the scavenging line got a crack. Often that scavenging line will want to torque when you're pulling the injectors and a crack in that line could allow air into the system.

Well...no good guys. I installed everything perfectly, bled the system, started her up and same thing clouds of white fuel smoke. I bled it 3 more times, checked all my hoses and fittings for leaks...nothing. I looked for air leaks using soapy water...nothing.

I'm going to have to have it towed to a shop. Now I have to find someone reasonably close to look at it. I'm 1/2 way between Victoria and Nanaimo, any suggestions for a good diesel shop? There's a guy at Duncan Toyota who knows diesels, but they're so expensive.

Is it still idling high, with the fuel linkage taken off? Are you sure that voltage is getting to the glow plugs? Are you sure they are the correct glow plugs? If you have a volt meter, (they are cheap--Cdn Tire) have someone turn the key so the glow system will activate, and check the busbar.

Not when it is warm...

What's happening with your engine manual. I would think any shop will want it to comfirm specs.

Phoned Mark. Part # RM132-E (or E with no dash). G&S ordered two. No stock in Canada, so on Tuesday he will start back checking and see if it will be coming out of the USA or have to go over seas.

If anyone in the USA is following this thread, maybe see if this part number works with your Toyota guy.

Thanks.

Hey guys. I took the injectors back up to Action, and Lloyd found they were about 10bars to high (about 135). .

to add to the confusion, on the 1HZ and the 1PZ (rotory pump) the openings are 135-155 kg/cm squ. used nozzel and 145-155 for new nozzle.
on the 2LT it is 140-160 used and 155-160 new
the 3B is 105-125

what year is your BJ70? since there are 2 different part numbers for pre 88/08 and post 88/08 for injectors according to the foreign parts cataloge...

also comparring the 2LT rotory pump with the 2L inline pump the injector openings are the same spec...

I saw the change up numbers on the EPC to Wayne. What was the 1st year of the 3BII? Was it 88/08? I can't find reference here with my books.

Cool. Wonder what year/month it started. I did not see the info in Mullens FAQ either.

actually i sold a BJ61 to a lady and it had the 3B 11 so it was before 88/08

How did you know it was a 3BII? Colour of the block? JDM 3Bs had the rotary pump right back to 1980 so that's not a good indicator.

By definition the 3BII has no sleeves and and eight bolt crank, right?

88/08 is the changeup date from a 6 bolt to 8 bolt crank...3B and 13BT.

Hey Bruce: Was it the JDM that just got them back to 80? Strange the B/3B/11B/13B and 13B-T engine manual does not even make reference to rotory. Is it a rotory on Darrens sweet soft top 40 series that Sheldon and I saw at the docks last summer?

now this has gotten interesting, at first it SEEMED that acording to the EPC the rotory started after 88/08 so i checked the date on the BJ61 and it is a 1986 model year...
so i checked further and according to the EPC they started on 84/11 part # 22100-58022...
HTHs
cheers

Ya, strange eh. Look on the top let corner, beside the 3B. When the screen says 3B 84/11-88/08 the picture is of an inline pump, however the next screen which says 3B and has 88/08 --- shows the rotory.

i saw that but then checked the part number and it is the rotory pump...

the more i know, the more i realise how much i don't know...

cheers

Ya...me too. That's okay. Keeps one open minded and able to learn I think.

He showed me exactly how to install the brass washer and exactly how to install the injector seat. He said a problem in this area would cause the symptoms I have.

Speaking of which... How does the bass gasket sit? The seat (brass washer) I can deal with it's the actual gasket (which is brass too) I'm not sure which way it sits. I really can't tell from the manual and since the injectors were rebuilt I can't tell which way they were facing..

Thanks
