Hello all,

In the process of replacing all my bushings and after pushing in the new upper panhard bushings, small cracks appeared around the center sleeve on both sides.

I'm using @TRAIL TAILOR bushing press kit and 20 from harbor freight press.

The inner cutout seen below does not appear to have too much contact with the sleeve. Infact it looks perfectly measure for support with the main load on the outer housing.

So my question is have I damaged the new bushings? Has anyone else used the trail tailor kit and experienced this? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that isn't paint cracking? Sometimes bushings are painted black.

Hmm possibly....I thought the rubber was not painted bc the outer casing and sleeve don't show any signs of paint. Rubber looks like it was formed around the sleeve so I would think I'd see some overspray. I'll take another look

@SteelHunterFJ80 : can you measure the depth of the shelf in the tool and then the height of the bushing (the part that sticks up/out) above the outer rim
and post those numbers up?

Ok measred it and looks like there's a 1/16 of an inch of clearance.

Thought of it just after I posted the question but you went there alot faster than me!

I would not sweat it.

Life in the your landcruiser is gonna be tougher than a little pressure in the press if the recess in the die is not quite deep enough
Ok you all have eased my OCD....I think I'm hashing withdrawals from not driving my truck.

I had to paint the upper control arms and cure time is about 5 days and I'm dying that I've at a time to make it easier to align and put them back in.

They are looking good though!

Looking good, which metal prep, primer, paint did you use?

Wired wheeled it down with brass brush. Used de-greaser and acetone to clean, followed by John Deere Primer and then John Deere Blitz Black. Really please with the quality of the paint.

Would have been a good time to sleeve them with DOM and slightly extend them.

Yeah thought about it or even just upgrading to heavier duty arms but this is more of an over lander than a rock crawler. I have too much time and money into to wheel it hard.

I hear you. Even not wheeling hard they will bend if getting in a predicament as they are heavy. Easy to do in the future if you want.
