I was about to take the head from my 88 62 3FE into the machine shop and I decided to give it a quick look before I took it in. To my dismay I found a rather large crack in the #2(or maybe #5) part of the head. So I have two questions;
1)Can this be repaired and if so how sturdy would it be?
2)If not, does anyone close to Ventura, 93003 have a good 3FE head they want to sell me or where I might find one.
I looked through the parting out and found one or two that will probably kill me in shipping. Im willing to drive a little ways to get one. My last option is to try man-a-fre or $OR.
Thanks for the help I am just trying to get this beast roadworthy sooner than later.
Thanks,
Paul

Engine Cylinder Head 88-90 Used nice shape, not cracked or warped. $400

shipping might be costly.

Cracked heads can be repaired, but the machinist will have to look at it and magnaflux...

GO TO:

Martin Davidson Automotive Machine

18410 Gault St, Reseda, CA 91335-4315

(818) 705-2441

He's the guy who builds MAFs motors -- and two doors down from him is a guy who specializes in repairing exotic cyl heads. I watched him do a cracked Ferrari head.

Don't know about cost, but I'd call.

edit: You also might call TLC in Van Nuys, if you're gonna find a used head -- Sometimes they have used parts around, too. Martin may have a used one too, he'd sell.
