One small crack on each from pre chamber combustion port, is it cactus? This is the worst one, travels down the first lip, so about 3-4mm deep at least by naked eye . Effort of a rebuild merits a virgin really. Or is it worth seeing if it can be repaired?

What engine are we talking about here?

Anyhow, yeah, it's done. See the pitting in the cylinder head surface? That happens when water has been leaking into the cylinder for a while. I've seen the same on all the 2LTE heads that have cracked. It can pit the top of the cylinder bore too - but as long as it's below the ring travel its ok.

Thanks man, it is a 2h. Got a hj75 troopy wreck to pull apart and learn. If I was not learning, I would have been very disappointed with this very neglected dog. Nearly everything is stuffed, still trying to decide if I restore or just keep good bits.

The bore (parent) doesn't look too bad, but I shall clean it a bit more before posting a pic.

You can buy good a running 2H for not much. As long as I could see a cold start, it wouldnt bother me buying used

I have not seen a reasonably priced troopy for well over a year probably two, not in victoria. Guess I have been a bit of a snob turning a blind eye to 60's and utes, 61's n 40 series are nutso prices. Saw someone asking $200k last week! good luck to them. To think, I use to have two bj40's lost to circumstance, guess one is being looked after for me, still in the snowies but that is a long story..
A hj 45 ute went for $1500 on ebay, but queensland. Just love the versatility of the troopy configuration, family, solo camp, carry all..bricks, lumber, fire wood, 10 passengers.
Melbourne has been in lockdown for well over 200 days, 5km is a small pool. I got this wreck when we had a week n half freedom, 80ks from me. Needed a project or I too would go nuts. I got one! By all means if one comes up give ahoy, I have alerts for ebay and gumtree.

I was thinking used engines rather than complete vehicles.

There is one in ballarat for 3grand on ebay, I don't trust unless i have a look and gumtree has only rebuilt for around 4grand with exchange. I don't necessaryily trust a rebuild either, don't want to pay for the uncertainty. Don't like facebook, even if something is there. That is it for vic at present. Always looking tho.

There is always too many thieves and liars in secondhand cars.
There is also a complete one in brisbane for $2500, imported, has extractors, but gosh hard to tell just by pictures. cost a bomb to get it to melbourne. W.A . would be too much for freight too. A good head is the rarest of things it seems. I can see reconditioned heads for 2-2500 grand, which feels iffy. I have contacted yamato importers and engines aus, waiting for reply.
