When I did my tyre rotation some time ago for my Hilux's 15,000km (9,316.77 mi) service, I noticed a dent and crack on the alloy wheel. The Brdigestone Dueler H/T was fine though. I don't know how that could have happened, as my Hilux is not a trail rig but is a workhorse running on rough roads.

I've since upgraded to Tundra steel wheels and GoodYear MTR's, but I took the alloy wheel with stock tyre to Toyota. I told them that this is a defect i n their alloy wheel by not doing its job of lasting under expected conditions, so I want the Toyota warranty to cover it. Their evaluator said that they'll evaluate it, but heavliy hinted that it's my (?!!!) fault for using the Hilux as a workhorse... that I should instead use my car insurance to cover for it.

BTW, it's a 2004 Hilux with a 3-year warranty. Am I right in my claim and that my Toyota dealer got overly too defensive at once? Or should I just bow down to whatever they say? NOT.

Have you Tacoma/Hilux owners have this happen to you yet? Cracked a wheel, I mean? How?

Sounds like you got a crummy dealer, I know my dealership would have been happy to replace the wheel if the car wasn't in a crash. Non the less...customer satisfaction, can always write a letter to higher up...Toyota probably doesn't want a "weak" impression when it comes to trucks, since they are going to take on Ford and Chevy HD trucks.

Pretty common to see alloy rims crack here in the states. High output diesels and alloy rims can be disaterous... My dad just found a crack in his American Racing wheel, tire shops are seeing it often?

Drexx, a warranty is a warranty, to me no matter how you used your truck if it is still under warranty then the dealer should cover up for you. They should have no excuse and probably they just don't want to pay for your wheel. Fawk that, take it back to Pasong Tamo Toyota and tell them you want a wheel exchange with new one. That's I would do and at the same time I will take my lawyer with me. :D
