couple of questions on gx purchase

some history.
I have owned an 80 an currently own a 2000 100 series with 210k miles on it.

I am currently looking at gx470s. Here are a few questions I have for you all.

1. cracked dashboards, is this a common issue?
2. 2003-2004 or 2005 or newer.... reason I ask is, is the VVTi going to be more maintenance above 100k miles.? FYI I have done nothing but scheduled maintenance on my non VVTI 4.7 with no issues... knock on wood.
3. If I do have to purchase a gx with Nav, what options do you have for replacement or upgrade?
4. Any known issues I should be aware of before making a purchase.

1. Yes, but not if it was well maintained.
2. VVTi gives more power, I haven't heard anything on increased wear or shorter service life
3. Nav makes it a lot harder...you almost have to replace the center console to make a viable aftermarket stereo work
4. Leaky CDL actuator seal, plastic radiators fail if not serviced, normal CV leaks, etc. Pretty easy going truck as long as it has records.

1 mine isn't cracked, And I can't speak to how many are cracked. The dash costs like $1300 from lexus (I think). look for small cracks forming around the passenger side air vents.

2 I haven't read about significant problems with either engine.

3. AFIK there is no replacement for the stock nav system as the climate controls are integrated into it. I sought out and bought a non-nav for that very reason.

4. Radiator leaks seem common at 80-100k miles, air shocks can leak, Front driveshaft clunk.

I wouldn't say cracking dash is common, but it happens. GX specific issues off the top of my head is the air injection pump (not common, but happens), leaking diff actuator seal, slip yoke clunk (a lot were corrected due to customer complaints), radiator, shocks start leaking at 80-100k. I never saw any issues with the Nav in GX's.

Be wary if the windshield has been changed out, saw some issues with GEMs getting wet with poor quality glass/installs.

Replaced or original I always look for an OEM windshield.

MYLEXUS shows the windshield was replaced at a Lexus dealership. But, maybe they have an outside contractor come to the dealership to do the actual replacement??? Don't know.

Also be aware that you can have wetness, but not from the windscreen being replaced...plugged moonroof drains can cause a lot of the wetness normally blamed on a windshield replacement. Blow out the drains and it will be fine.
