Has anyone come across this error on their 4Runner? It's throwing this code out of nowhere, and I have a great warranty. Toyota is saying this isn't exactly pinpointing an exact cause to justify to the warranty company to replace "x." This is highly frustrating.

This all started a few months ago when the vehicle randomly turned off while driving, which was scary to say the least. I took it to Toyota, and they couldn't replicate the issue. I then got a scanner and came across this B158F error. A few days ago, the vehicle wouldn't start, so I took it back to Toyota. They told me the battery was healthy and recharged it, but they haven't been able to resolve the B158F error - ugh.

Any input or guidance?

i wouldn't say that code is the root cause, unless the nav system is the culprit killing the battery..
if your dealer is balking the repair, id find an alternate one. a vehicle dying while driving is a very dangerous situation.

Yeah, that is a great point! I may take it to a local shop that I had good success with in the past, and who knows how to "work with the warranty company".

Make sure battery terminals are tight and clean, have the charging system load tested with an old school carbon pile load tester.
