Dodging Hail

Well I have never seen an 80 that was this shape before. A few weeks ago I was made aware of one of my good customers 80 series being crushed by a massive oak tree. The 80 was parked in the garage of a well built house and still suffered this kind of damage. This particular truck I have been taking care of since 2016 and was used as a daily driver until it was crushed. Made a deal shortly after it was flattened and picked it up last night. In case you are wondering it still runs and drives, the air conditioner still blows cold and it’s “Triple Locked”. I drove it on the trailer Ace Ventura style and dropped it off at my house. Will be using the axles under the White 80 I drug out of the hood and should have a very nice, capable, locked 80 series once all of parts are combined. Will be making a part out thread in the weeks to come so that other parts of this rig can live on.

At the Relic Run last month was an 80 converted into a retro 4-door FJ47 and the used sheet metal shell from Aqualu. It looked like an adder for the bucket list.

Just sharing for consideration

There is a guy out this way that has been building those. Great use for the chassis but I don’t have that kind of time these days. Will add it to my bucket list for when I retire. Maybe by then I will have the 2uz swap streamlined.

Bessie’s New 1fz is assembled and ready to be put between the frame rails on Monday morning.

@OGBeno has already inquired about this frame but I am a ways away from being at that point. However, I do know where a fj62 frame is out here in Raymond if that will work for him.
