I have spent the last few days on my wheel wells. First, I treated them with Rust Bullet and then I put two coats of Herculiner on them. Talk about a messy job! Having done this, my plans for using a bed liner on the rocker panels and fender rims took an abrupt change. Now, I am looking for a professional to spray it on. Here's where I hit a snag... First call, Linex of Bozeman...they say $1200. Next call, Rhino Liner of Butte...he says $600. That is considerably more than I was quoted about 1 year ago. The Bozeman deal is an absolute rip off in my opinion and I consider the Butte deal about #150-$200 too high. Am I out of line? Maybe I will suck it up and do it myself...Durabak???

Do it yourself.

I used the duplicolor brand in a gallon jug, sprayed it with an under coat gun. Here is a picture of it.... I did the wheel wells inside after I stripped them out and the rockers etc.

Sweet lookin' rig, brownbear. I never saw a white con-ferr rack before - does it help reduce the need for a/c?:D [edit - it's aluminum, isn't it? duhhhh...]

Hey are those the manual fj62 mirrors from coolcruisers.com/CCOT? How do you like them?

Thanks :)

No the rack is just bare aluminum. Not white. When I had stuff up there the vehicle was quite a bit cooler. Its a shuttle bus rack cut down to size. Not conferr. I like it.

The mirrors are 70 series mirrors. They fit fine. Just a tiny gap at the front. Huge improvement over stock.

I realized my mistake w/ the rack before I saw your reply... whoops on the unnecessary edit.

Yeah I HATE my mirrors. At least I'm limber, ha. I do like to know what's going on back there when I'm in a slow vehicle.

I'm thinking about getting these:

Mirrors - FJ60 FJ62

Don't know anything about quality/durability, though, and the product's on sale and comes with a disclaimer.

Was it hard to find 70 mirrors? I admit I haven't looked....

We should not hijack the thread anymore :) But those CCOT mirrors for 98 bucks looks like a good deal. I would go with them.

In Canada we have lots of 70 series rigs around, so it wasn't hard.

I did the whole interior of my 40 with Duplicolor by myself for about $35.

you would be surprised.. I have a full length black roof rack with a mesh floor. My roof is in the "shade" all day, no joke.

FYI: I got a price of $450 for black Linex in Idaho Falls; it is $200 more for color. $1200 in Bozone and $450 in IF...jeeze! Now, all I got to do is decide if I want to spend another $200 on gas and a motel. Maybe DYI is the way after all. Thanks for the encouragement folks!

You can get a gallon of Herculiner for 60 or 70 bucks if you look for a sale. Each gallon comes with 2 rollers and a brush. Get a can of xylene too. Put some tarps down, prep and mask and prep on Friday. Paint Saturday and Sunday. Drive it to work on Monday.
It's been done before.

For those prices I would suggest DIY. In fact the price difference would buy you a nice shop air compressor. 400 for the compressor. 40 for an undercoat gun and 50 for some duplicolor in a gallon jug.

oh for what it's worth... I can usually rationalize the purchase of tools to my wife on how much it would cost to bring the vehicle into a shop. Have assets or a big bill at the end of the day....easy choice.

Again, thanks for the encouragement. I already have a 60 gal air compressor. I have never used the undercoating spray gun. Are there any tricks to it? I just finished doing inside the wheel wells with Herculiner. NAPA has a sale right now..$70 for the aforementioned kit. PLUS, there is a $25 rebate from NAPA during June..so it is $45, not too shabby a deal. I don't want to use Herculiner on the outside where it show because it turns gray, (yeah, like it really matters! ). Always got either dust or mud on it anyway. I figured the square footage for what I want to do at about 31 square feet...does that sound right. The Durabak website says that their gallon will cover 60 square feet with 2 coats and it costs $155 plus shipping.
