After searching, ive found most of the info I need, but there's one thing I've yet to see. In my 74, the po put a desmogged 78 2f engine in. The heater lines are disconnected though, it was just used as a farm truck. I bought new lines, and the pipe in the coolant return line, which was missing. From that union pipe, where do I run? Pictures are the most useful, and it's too bad I can't seem to find anything online.
I know there's probably 100 threads that have exactly what I need, but for the life of me I can't find it.

Did you get the metal pipe that attaches to the engine side cover? Here is a pic of a 78 that shows the heater lines in the engine compartment. I assume you also have the heater shut-off valve?

The metal pipe running down the right side of the block is there, not attached to anything

Here is a pic of a 76 that shows the connection to the Tee fitting up to the pipe, it then goes through the pipe to another rubber hose that attaches to one side of the heater, through the heater out the firewall via another rubber hose to the heater valve, through the valve to another rubber hose then into the port on the back of the head.

So, I'm now off work, and the hood is open. Turns out, I have no idea whats going on. This box(radiator?) has the pipe going to the non valve/switch side to the front heater core. the other side has a hose that goes under the radiator hose, up to the water pump area. was this originally meant to cool oil?
