After resorting to running dye through the cooling system, I've found the source of my slow leak. The usual telltale green crud did not help pinpoint this one.
My leak is in the line leading under the harmonic balancer from the WP to the oil cooler. It's the rubber hose end connecting the WP to the hard line, behind the HB and it's related belts.

Here's the question...anyone have success replacing the hose without removing belts, shroud, etc? It seems that a guy with an air wrench could wriggle up in there, but it's tight, to say the least. I plan to pull the tie rod away some to get more room w/ the air wrench. I also plan on using bulk hose from my local Carquest.

I was able to replace that section of hose by removing the PS pump & AC compressor. I did not see any way around removing them and associated belts. Its tucked way in there. You shouldn't need to remove the shroud though.

Just to clarify, are you talking about #5?

Thanks for your reply, but we are talking about two diff hoses, it seems. This hose would be best accessesed from below, and slightly left of center ( to the driver's side)

Hmmm. Let me snap a pic, since #5 would seem right, but on my motor exits the water pump further on the driver's side, and crosses under the HB, along the motor to the pass side cooler.

Brother it is a bitch. I would pull it all to better access it.

and bulk hose from advance car quest is fine
I hear that. I'm just pressed for time, as a camping trip ensues soon and I have limited wrench time.

As an FYI/update...
Went ahead and dove in. I don't want a coolant leak marring next weekend's family camping trip.

This can be done from below without removing anything short of the engine skidplate (assuming you have one, mine's collecting dust in the garage). Didn't even need to pop one TRE to swing the tierod outta the way. Since it seems I'm compelled to paint everything that comes of the truck for repairs, it took several hours. Otherwise, aside from wishing I had girly hands, it was a one banana job.
