You folks are some of the smartest I know and I am sure you all can help me learn some new stuff. Here is the tech I am learning about right now. I want everyone to add so we can have a one stop shop for helping at work or home or where ever. I am leaving out Blockchain and Bitcoin. That tech has been around a while.

Please post up anything on the horizon. You guys and girls have very wide depth of knowledge and I need to learn as much as possible. Thank you in advance.

www.arria.com - natural language generation - software writes narratives / reports from data. 90# of all sport reports and financial reports use this technology today.

Robotic process automation (RPA) solutions - bots - robotic process automation - takes repetitive human tasks on a computer and a bot behind the scenes does all the tedious work. Example - human downloads data from 2 different sources and then does a reconciliation. Bots can do all that and then the human only looks at the exceptions. Imagine across all fields and industries.

www.matterport.com - 3d map of your surroundings for iphone. Why this is important? The mirror world (ready player 1) can be built much quicker when the whole world helps to capture real places and turn them into virtual spaces.

if you havent tried our GPU powered ML assisted RTX voice app, its nice (dirty secret, you dont need an rtx card, config files mod and gtx can use)

RPA is pretty simple, one of the services we offer. Think of it as a VRU on steroids, subroutines that will run programs on simple repeatable processes.

I’m learning about IOT, EDI, RFID, GTIN, AIDC and all sorts of other fascinating acronyms as part of my new job.

We need to discuss. ;<)

There will be many of us non-tech people who will benefit from a definition of the acronyms and/or a brief description of what it's used for lest we get too confused and upset to research every new one mentioned. Good thread idea, @uzj100 Andrew.

BTW - how's this for an app: Take a pic of a pepper; app determines the type then gives you the average Scoville units for that type; Fun Game Mode has it guess, simply by the pic and its database of variables, if it'll be hotter or milder than average for the type. Super Fun Game Mode (technology allowing) translates Scoville heat into actual heat of your phone...hang on bitches!

Computers have been out for a while, we leaving those out too?

I've got networking and data center nerdom covered to some extent, but it doesn't really apply to daily life.

How about q&a?

Q and A all the way. If I don’t know I will do what the young people say, GTS = google that s***.

Fixed this for you.

Start up I am helping with. Pokémon go for brands. Discover. Collect. Redeem. Creating the future of marketing.

AR apps are cool as hell!
Yes sir. If you have ideas or thoughts please let me know. We can place these items anywhere in the planet. In the grocery store in front of competitors drinks. In parks. Anywhere. Crazy tech for sure. We are also building a mirror world like ready player one. The future is going to be crazy for sure.

Make your app respond to verbal commands. AR will eventually move to headgear I think (sunglasses, kinda like google glass) so you won't have a screen to interact with, just visuals.

You are correct. Phones are going away. The AR can respond to verbal today. Marketing example.
imagine a Chevy commercial comes on tv. The app hears the ad and immediately launches tiny augmented reality little Ford trucks driving around your living room. Your phone buzzes, you pick it up and you see the AR trucks all over your house on the screen. Crazy cool tech. It’s coming. In the future you will have glasses on the AR Ford trucks will appear.

I would spike my phone on the ground if it buzzed every time it heard a commercial it could show me AR for
