In 1980, a buddy of mine drove from Starkville to Shaw, MS to look at a green Superbird. Turned it down. Since it was only a single 4-bbl model, he thought it was overpriced at $3,500.

Unfortunately, I know many of us have way too many stories like that..........

When I was a kid, I remember going into an antique/army surplus store in Collierville, TN. They had rows and rows of .mil trade-in Winchester Midel 1897 Trench guns. The real mccoys; the ones with the barrel shroud and bayonet attachments. These were probably issued in WWI and WWII. They wanted a very high price of $400 each for them (this was around 1995) and my dad said they were too much.
Now, they are worth thousands.

Also remember another antique store in Memphis, around the same time. They had a rack of original Winchester 1873s, which though well used, had all the markings of belonging to American Indians (brass tacks in the stock, and repaired stock with sinue. I think they are asking around $500 for them. Again, they'd probably be worth in the tens of thousands nowadays.

And then there was the time my dad and I went to look at an early Barracuda. He passed, because he thought $2500 was too much (this was around 1998). He still talks about that sometimes.
