I tried some searching but couldn't quite find the correct answer. I just spoke to my mechanic and he stated that my control arm bushings are cracked. They stated that this is for both the upper and lower control arms. I called Toyota and they wanted $695 for the bushings for both upper and lower CA's. I have an 2 inch OME lift. Would I be better to just put on SPC UCA's? What options do I have for LCA's? Is there a bushing replacement kit for the 200? (I have a 2008 with 202K miles).

Is there anything else I should do while I have them working on this?

Thanks In Advance

Yes

At 202k bushings aren't a total surprise. How are the ball joints?

A pair of SPC UCAs is about $550-600, which includes bushings. Not many LCA options though.

If they are quoting $695 for upper and lower bushings including labor I assume it's just the bushings, not full UCA/LCA replacement. Which is generally unnecessary if you're at 202k without issues up until now, though new ball joints might not be a bad idea.

Thanks for your input. That was Toyota’s price for bushings / parts only. They wanted $479 for the LCA bushings alone.

Sounds like UPA are a no brainer but need to find a solution for the LCA.

The parts guy at the dealer actually suggested I find out what cangaro racing did and possibly do a tundra replacement. He was a nice guy but they seem very expensive for bushings.

I haven’t checked my ball joints but will have my mechanic look those over.

I appreciate the input and guidance for a non mechanically inclined owner!

Does Total Chaos offer LCAs for 200 series?
They do, but seems a bit overkill for some worn out bushings.

@realslimbrady, Looking at the parts catalog, it would appear your dealer is charging full price for the lower bushings at $479. Like @linuxgod said that $695 number may just be part. If it IS $695 parts and labor, may not be a bad deal.

It might be worth reaching out to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters to see if he has bushing packages at a better price, or since your in Utah, road trip it to Cruiser Outfitters and let them do it. You probably wouldn’t regret that.

Calling Kurt @cruiseroutfit

Thanks @empty80. I called Cruiser Outfitters yesterday and they did not have any bushing packages for the 200. They referred me to George @ Karl Malone Toyota who then quoted $695 for bushings only. George also suggested I talk with Kurt and possibly look into a Tundra front end or find out what "Monica" is using.

The lower bushings for parts alone is $489. It seems like a waste to spend that for bushings only. However, there aren't many options out there.

SPF3279K - Control Arm Lower-Front Bush Kit
SPF3278K - Control Arm Lower-Rear Bush Kit
SPF3277K - Control Arm Upper-Inner Bush Kit

CBT stocks SPC's for both 100 and 200 and were a great price both times I bought.

A tundra front end wouldn’t be the worst. It essentially comes out to a +2” long travel. Tundra parts for that would be easy to come by fairly cheap. There’s a place here in Albuquerque that turns out Total Chaos long travel Tundras regularly. They could probably get you a set of take-off from one of their customers.

Give me a ring at the shop Monday. We have aftermarket and OE bushing kits in stock for the 8x/100 but not complete setups for the 200 *yet*, we have parts inbound. We do have SPC UCA's in stock and ball joint kits for the 200.

i was at 175 k and did the spc uca's instead as well. but i did the ome 2 inch kit at that time so it just made sense.
i had a tire shop quote me 3200.00 to do the bushings.... which was hilarious and disturbing...
i have an 08 with 190k

An alignment shop decided to torque the LCAs while not under load. What symptoms should I expect with bad LCA bushings? Vibrations? Clunks? Here's pics of the front side bushings:
