Hello everyone, I have been in the market for a 13-15 LX570 the past couple of months. All the headgasket talk has scared me a bit so I am looking for some guidance. I found a 13 lx570 in a rust free state. It’s a 1 owner car that has been serviced by Lexus every 5k miles. At 80k miles water pump replaced. 89k miles the radiator and valley plate leak were replaced. 100k miles 4x4 actuator replaced. Car has 116k miles now.

I should be in the clear right? Most all the big ticket items have been fixed. Also it is completely rust free. Looks mint from underneath.

Not sure if you can get good detailed history, but I would be curious about all the work done in the 80-89k range on the cooling system. If any of those failures allowed the engine to overheat, the head gasket MAY be at a higher risk of failure in the future.

Example:
Waterpump replaced due to weeping coolant out the weep hole (normal), radiator replaced due to small fatigue crack, replaced before catastrophic failure (normal), valley plate leaking slightly and replaced (normal) - If this is the case, you're probably good.

If the radiator failed on the road and the owner drove it until the check engine light came on for temp/low coolant and then towed it to a shop then I would be suspicious and worry about possible damage to the head gasket that may cause future issues.

I would say so. My wife has a 2013 LC200 with ~130K on the clock. It's had the valley leak fixed, and the radiator replaced. At about 80K, it developed a rear main seal leak that took two tries for the dealer to solve (~$2000, but I didn't pay for the second try). I've been through a few sets of brake pads/rotors too, front and rear. She's been running like a champ, and still feels new.

I think what you're saying about the lack of rust is a definite plus, and is probably one of the bigger concerns in general. I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts, but in general, I don't think that mileage is anything to worry about. Sounds like it's in good shape.

A prepurchase inspection (PPI) by an independent shop would provide you peace of mind and some potential bargaining data. It's a big enough purchase that you pausing to consider it. I would get the PPI done if I were you.
For me, the service history you mention would not concern me. I would be happy to see that those were addressed.
You can go to MyLexus.com and create an account, then add this vehicle's VIN to your personal vehicle inventory (without owning the vehicle, just by having the VIN) and see what Toyota/Lexus has for maintenance history. I strongly advise doing that for any vehicle you are thinking of buying. It's free, and it can yield a wealth of information.
Good luck!

I have its entire service history from Lexus.com. It is being sold by the Lexus Dealer that maintained it. Here are some underneath pics. I plan to keep this car for 10+. I live in the Chicagoland area so it with be fluid filmed every year as well. I also do my own maintenance for 95 percent of jobs.

I think I’m psyching myself out

Wow. I think I would buy that right away and make sure no one else swoops in on me. Good luck. It looks great, obviously.

The technician comments on the Lexus service history should give you notes on why the cooling system work was done. If there's no evidence of being run hot, I'd buy it. Underside looks great!

So in the comments for the radiator leak it listed an address in a parking lot of a store to get picked up so I wonder if they found it leaking and it got it towed. Water pump had no other information and the valley plate was found on its 5k service interval leaking and resealed. I think I’m in the clear.

I agreed to a sale today! Will be flying down to pick it up next week!
