my other computer crashed and i need to restore it back i want to transfer my lap top files to the home computer is there a way i can burn a disk on the lap top and then install the programs on the home computer, and i only wish my son could find our orginal disk thanks everyhing s gone

First off, it depends if your laptop has a CD burner installed. But, you won't be able to install the programs just by moving them from the laptop to the desktop. You'll need the original install disks.

Yet another reason to get an external hard drive to back up files. They're cheap and easy to use.

I second an external hdd. Get a Western Digital Passport from Costco.

If both computers are on the same network(lan or wireless), just set them up to "share" documents and send the laptop files to the desktop over the network.
