Where are people mounting air compressors in the vehicle. I just got an ARB unit and don't really want it under the bonnet. Any idea's, pics would be great!

Pulling off the rear trim and sliding it in there? Im not sure, will check.
edit: RHS has the fuel filler and limited space. LHS has bladder and limited space.

Yes, I like the idea. I spose the bladder can be shifted and more room made available. Might have to fab up the trim to allow easy access.

the noise those things make is quite aggravating... I wouldn't want it in the cabin myself.....

It'll do fine under the bonnet and yes they make a lot of noise. It also draws a bit of power so make sure you run adequate wire - especially if you're going all the way to the back of the truck.
Viar 480 in the rear compartment.
use an aluminum plate to reach the uprights of the body. Flip the rubber mounts.

I ran the airline down the quarter panel to a 3 gallon tank. The tank is mounted to the spare tire crossmember. The airfilter is next to the fluid bag so it can be cleaned or replaced easily.

Never mind, just re-read your post saying you don't want it under the bonnet...
Jim at SROR to made me a pedestal mount that fits in factory holes in the frame. I don't have any pics here, but I think he's got some examples on his site.
it mounts nicely just to the side of the dist.

That looks brilliant D'animal. Had any heat issues with it in there?
No heat issues. Keeping the rubber mounts is key. If you solid mount it you will get some vibration and noise.
I have it wired to the relay shut off pressure switch. With a 3 gallon tank it does not run that much. It runs a lot when airing up tires but you are out of the rig when it's running continuously, so no big deal.

I freed up space with de smog, so was able to mount up both a Helton shower heat exchanger, and the ARB air compressor. I like mine under the hood as the noise inside could be too much at times.

Rear quarter panel for me as well. Simple 1/8" plate bracket worked to existing holes.
Bring wiring and air line through drain plug holes with new grommets and a little sealant.
