***EDIT**** No longer for sale!!! *****

Brand new, in the box. Just bought these for my project 4Runner's front axle in the last month....but have since toyed with the idea to ditch the wheel spacers and build a custom width housing to match the rear Tundra axle width so I will need custom inners. Apparently, just buying inners from RCV is stupid expensive and you're better off buying a whole set which means that if I'm going to do this, I need to sell this complete set off to buy another with custom length inners. These retail at $1185 + shipping.....but you can usually get free shipping from time to time with certain vendors. They will also fit FJ80 housings...they are machined for both lengths.

I'm asking $1100 and I'll pay the shipping to you. If I can't get close to that, I'll probably just keep them and move forward with the plan with the wheel spacers.

I am located in the Phoenix, AZ area and am hoping to do a local sale if at all possible.

Thanks for looking,

Sean

***EDIT*** for some reason, I can't attach pics or link them. If you're interested, I have pics of the S/Ns of the shafts that I can send if you PM me your email address.

Are these front and rear?

No. They are front only.

I should make it clear...these are not complete axles with housings, brakes, thirdmembers, gears, etc. They are upgraded alloy axle shafts for the front axle.

Sorry for any confusion.

Yep...that's it. But they're not the polished ones like the ones pictured. They are the reddish brown ones.

Do you know. What makes these better or different from the nitro set to justify the additional cost? I'll be in Scottsdale next week with work and am considering this.

Nitros aren't 300M for the inner shafts which is what breaks when you make the birfield out of 4340.

***EDIT*** also, it appears that Nitro retains the 24 spline CV in their design by just increasing the diameter of the shaft so that it doesn't neck down. RCV increases the diameter as well, but uses a 30 spline race for the CV. JFYI.

Yes....the RCV shafts have the zerk in the end of the stub shaft.....though I don't see this as a huge advantage in a closed knuckle application where the knuckle ball is full of grease in the first place.

I read the advertisement and caught nothing about how many miles they will go in an AWD configuration. Would a Part time kit be in order?

No. I plan to run flanges on a DD. There shouldn't be any longevity problem running in a full time set up, any more so than the factory shafts.

Chromoly is softer than OEM and I have read that they may last about 60k in an AWD set up. Part timing is on my list anyway.

Interesting....what's the Rc on the factory parts in question? What parts are we talking about exactly? I'm assuming you mean the races and ball bearings. Those are 4340 on the RCV and I would *guess* they are through hardened like the shafts, but don't know off hand. I'd *guess* (again) that the OEM parts are induction hardened at best...but I am curious as to the actual numbers. Wonder how we could find out.

Just got off the phone with RCV. They can't give out their Rc specs, but they are slightly softer than OEM. However, there shouldn't be any concern about running in AWD.

More importantly, these are no longer for sale. Talked to Paul at RCV and he's going to swap them for me for a set of customs with a small upcharge.

Thanks for looking everyone. :)

Okay....is there a way to delete or close this thread? Sorry....not sure how classifieds work on ih8mud. I amended the first post to say they are no longer for sale. Not sure if there's a way for me to close/delete it or if a mod has to.

Just edit your post title to however you want it to read or just say "sold". The reason these shafts are less prone to breakage is bc they are more elastic which means softer which means they wear out faster than super hard and more brittle OEM. Good luck with your project.

Thanks....ya, I get that. I was more interested in actual numbers....but I get what you're saying and agree. This is for guys that are running decent sized tires (I'm planning 37s) and running rockcrawling trails.

***EDIT*** For some reason the software is not allowing me to edit the thread's title to indicate these are no longer for sale. If someone can explain where I do that, I'd appreciate it.***
