Thanks. Hope to get the new re-built 2F in in the next few weeks. Just been crazy busy with too many other things. Thanks for the compliments.

I have a 72 LC and I want to change the old rusted american racing wagon wheels. I am wondering if I can use wheels from a later model 4 runner or toyota truck. I'm looking at a set of wheels from 95 4 runner. I don't want to buy them.. get them home and then find out they wont fit. Does anyone know if they would work with my 72? thanks

I can sort of answer this question.

I have a 1979 FJ40, and wanted something wider than the 6" FJ60 wheels it currently has. I found a set of 15x7 alloy wheels from a '98 Tacoma for $50 on Craigslist, and since they match the ones on my '99 Tacoma, I thought great!

However, when I tried them on my Cruiser, they absolutely will not fit on the front. Come to find out, the Tacoma alloys have 3.75" of backspacing, while the FJ40 I have needs 4.5".

I like the wheels, so I'm planning to buy a set of 1.5" wheels spacers, so the wheels will fit.

If you find some 6x5.5 bolt pattern wheels you like, just be prepared to buy a set of spacers to make them work.

Edited on 09/04/19: I think the Tacoma wheels had 4.5" BS, and I needed 3.75" for my FJ40. I also discovered that the center hole was too small for my Cruiser, so I sold the wheels. Back on the hunt again...
