Column mounted shift lever knob

Can someone tell me how the column mounted shift lever knob comes off? The knob is in great shape but the lever is heavily corroded and I was thinking about getting it re-chromed. Separating the two seemed destined to do more damage than good. Any help is much appreciated. 1965 3 speed FJ45

Its threaded on.

Thanks for the assist! With a lot of effort, I was able to get it off without messing up the knob or the lever. Ran the threads with a tap and die set and then put on some anti-seeze compound.
