Says the guy with dual gas tanks!!!
Yep.

The other day I filled up in the morning around 7am, drove to Colorado, wheeled a bunch of trails partway (snow blocked many routes) and drove back, getting home after a full day around 5:30pm. Still have about 1/2 tank left.

Turns out my tank has been for travel to and fro so I don't have to pay the higher gas prices in the vacation spots, and so I never go to the pump anymore when I only wheel locally.

Plus, its cool.

So, where and when is the group going to decide.

So, where and when is the group going to decide.

If we follow our normal procedure the decision of when and where will be made the Friday before we have to leave. :D

We're up for either one. For wife and kid logistics a Moab run would be ideal, but we have no problem packing up for a few days out in the field. Either way we'll be playing.

Bumping this for reference.

Because it's what I'm set up for I vote for the Expo trip. I would also have an open shotgun seat available.

Perhaps the group can do the White Rim Trail? If you can get a reservation for multiple camp sites, I think this would be a great way to get into this type of wheeling. This is a scenic trail with couple of technical sections. I hope to run this trail some day. The camp sites fill up fast as you're competing with the MTB group tour companies. I think this is a lazy three day or a little quicker two day trail ride.

This trail is fairly close to Moab so afterward, you can camp in Moab and run local trails if you still have time or just hang out in Moab.

Just a suggestion.

Good idea Ash. I did White Rim in 1988 and it was memorable.
