Collectors Edition question

Have always wanted one, now I got it.


1997 LC Collectors Edition, no lockers, 125K, clean as a pin. I have dropped a K&N Filter and nothing else. (yet).

How many were made and are they more desirable than a 40th Ann?

Did not get lockers as I got an awesome deal on the one I bought. Paid $8900 for it. Will get pics up soon.

I am sure that the entire board would jump on any reasonably priced ARB bumper...But seriously, how much on a used one and how do I get the best deal?

Of course, I could go the wuss route and get a brush guard...This will not be a heavy off roader, more of a mud/snow beast...And yes, I know they do extra damage if hit.

I am also looking for advice for most "beater" for the buck in a 40/60/80 series...I need 2 of these things and am gonna get it.

The collector differs from a "standard" version in that it has climate control A/C (some argue that feature is a downer), side mouldings and darker paint in the wheel windows. The 40th adds tu-tone leather and a destinctive body color not available otherwise. Of the two, the 40th is cooler. I do like the side mouldings that came on both.

Your first mod should be to trash can that K&N and install a quality paper filter; unless of course you don't really care about dirt getting into your intake.

Undoing the K&N mod would be the 2nd mod to do.

I am partial to the collectors edition over the 40th anniversary model. I purchased a Burgandy [without lockers] but couldn't pass on the deal. It was the color that I wanted for $5K less than what I conistently came across! I shopped for six months.

I do not like the two tone leather seats that the 40th features however the badging looks really nice.
