Thanks to BMAM for leading, and all the showed up to clean up around the Coke Ovens. The weather made for an interesting day, no dust, no sweat, and alot of mud and water. On the way out I found an ominous view:

Several of us left the way we came in, out through Box Canyon. The sides had mini waterfalls, the water was flow'n; made us forget we were in a desert.

A good, long day. And we got some trash out too!!!

Yeah.
It was a good day, all in all.
Turnout was great. a dozen rigs, IIRC, most with multiple occupants.
Got a couple guys on quads interested in what we're doing. One owns a Toy, and will
hopefully be checking us out.

We forgot our camera, so no pics.

We did have to rescue a Jeep, though. :)
Broken leaf spring on a slightly technical section. Probably compounded by the slick wet
rocks he was trying to crawl up. I think someone got a pic. But he made it out to the 60.
We saw him at the Texaco gassing/airing up.
Aside from xrock losing a battery connection temporarily, that was the only carnage.
The raffle featured products donated by CruiserOutfit, a local Toyota dealership (DD/bman-
let us know which one), CruiserLand.com and even woody.

Looking forward to the next one in June(?).

It was great to see you out there. It had been a while since I tripped with my buddy Scott (from ExpoWest) so I joined his group of Taco's for the day. (Damn that Taco of Scott's is sweet. Trade for my 100 Scott? :) )

I got a nice shot of the CS Cruisers as they were hilltop just north of the ovens. Here's some shots of the day:

damn sorry I missed the clean up looked like great fun. I had a sick kid and the wife would not let him out of the house with me!

Due to a bunch of issues we got a late start, including me sliding off the road and getting stuck in the ditch on the way to pick up Phil at the TTORA camp. :whoops:

Our plan was to head out to the ovens the back way, thought we could make it by 1:00 PM or so. But Rob put his truck on it's roof and we spent the rest of the day getting it righted and running for the cruise out to the road for a tow home. His was a great looking rig, with a way too short life. Here is a picture of it on a better day, RIP.

What a total bummer! Is it really a total wreck? Or is it just transformed into a vehicle with more "rowdy" potential?

Had a great time out there with our group. Got a chance to test out the Tacomas new lift, not one scratch on the rocker panels :) Thanks Sir Titus & John trip leader.

Too bad about the 80 - the first roll is the hardest;)

Here are a few photos from the Coke Oven Trail

I am off to Death Valley with the PMC group :)

We (as in BMAN or was it Sir_Titus?) invited the AZ Virtual Jeep Club to help us out.

I am an x jeep guy so I was shocked to see all the jeeps. I hear the azvjc is a great site with some great members!

Here I come out of nowhere....no one knows who I am except the guys from here I've met on the trails. This is my first post here :D

I posted up the clean up on AZVJC to see if I would get any response. I even told them over there that the thing was being put on by a bunch of Landcruiser guys......and they STILL wanted to be a part of it  :D There were actually about 15 names on the list but only like 4 of the guys from there showed. I guess the others didn't want to get their Jeeps wet. (see, I'm a Jeep guy and I can still talk crap about them ;) )

By the way, HERE are the pics I got from last weekend...it's the album at the bottom of the page.

Bout damned time you signed in here John! Figured you'd have been here long before now Lurker.

Offroader5 (John) here, is a Heep guy with a sense of humor. You can all blame him for my involvement in offroading and Land Cruisers. He was the guy who finally convinced me that there was more to automotive world than Hot Rods and street cars.

Those who've met John know he's a good guy and a competant wheeler and fabricator. Those who don't will know eventually. Check out his other other albums to see some of his fab work and some of our other adventures.
