Anyone done a coil over conversion on a 60. Maybe with 80 axles and coils? Got any pics, tips, etc... Or anyone else thought about it? What would we have to do?

Yes it has been done. I dont have any info on it. Just a picture :D

I still haven't taken any pics, sorry. :-[ I do know he used king coilovers with a modified rubicon express long arm setup. I'm sure I'll go wheelin' with him this summer and hopefully snap a pick or 2.

I would think a good SOA 60 would ride just as good as coils/coilovers. It might flex more, but hay, flex is over rated. :D

hey overlord, I noticed you have a bds lift?? Does it ever bounce down the highway light a pogo stick? Mine seems to, and my guess is that it is the shocks heating up but I wanted to know if anyone else has that problem with bds shocks.

many months ago there was an article with pictures in the TT.
devo

dont know anything about the guy or the rig...saved it off the net awhile ago...maybe off slowspeed...hot sex tho

Yeah, the BDS lift sucks. Should have went with OME, but BDS' price was right at $700 cheaper. The suspension has settle some after almost a year. I've also been running w/o rear shocks because the cable locker controls interferes with the shock mounts. I think it's the MAF u-bolt flip kit I'm using though. I'm going to switch back the factory lower mount to see if that help while I fab something new up. Try running without shock, the suspension will settle in no time, mine has. :D

Is that Peter Straub's Tippy? If so, it's an 80 series axle and links under it. He only did the rear before going with mogs.

Yup, that's Straub's rig for sure. Yup, 80 series rear with 80 series links.

*Dreaming of links/coils for my 60....maybe someday....*

Nope. Haven't had time to work on it just yet. For the past couple of months, I have been looking for a house to buy, buying a house, packing and moving, and now unpacking... The Cruiser still hasn't even made it over to my new place yet... Should be bringin' it over this weekend and then starting to work on it after that...

doesnt he have coils in the back? and i think i remember him having air bags too.

wait.. tippy as in that thing sitting on 50 somthings...thats nuts..i heard he tested it out on some trails with out brakes...ballzy..altho i kinda like the look of it the pic i posted....

yup. that's the same rig that now runs those ~50 inchers. iirc, the tires in the pic above are about a 38 inch. i like it way better that way than with those honkin' huge ~50 inchers. but, to each his own i guess.

i agree with ya on that one...(ferg) i really like the set up in the pic...wish i was running coil overs..i got to wheel with an 80 with a 7inch lift and the ride seemed so soft....i know ill get there someday...prob some years down the line..
